The 79th 24 Heures du Mans, or widely known as the 24 hours of Le Mans has been one of the most drama filled races in recent memory. Audi's McNish and Rockenfeller were involved in two separate crashes that reduced their Audi R18 TDI cars to pieces. McNish went out in the first hour after coming into contact with a slower Ferrari, skidding across the gravel trap and slamming hard into the barriers, showering journalists and track crew with fragments of the car.

From the early stages during the off-season, the team’s Formula One car is developed entirely in Siemens' NX software, based on functional requirements and the ever changing Formula One regulations. The model proceeds to outline structure where the Red Bull Racing design team has approximately 150 workstations running NX, to develop geometric part models for the entire vehicle. The NX system gets even more crucial during the race season, as performance-enhancing modifications to the car have to be produced in as little as one week.

NUS Formula SAE's Centennial VI

The NUS FSAE (Formula-Society of Automotive Engineers) team is a group of engineering students who design, build and race an open-wheel open-cockpit Formula race cars.


Rockenfeller, who scored his maiden DTM victory at Zandvoort, started from fifth place and wasn’t able to improve his position during the race. In sixth to eighth place, Jamie Green (Mercedes-Benz), Timo Scheider (Audi) and Mercedes-Benz driver Gary Paffett still scored points for the championship. Italian Edoardo Mortara, who occupied fourth place in qualifying with his Audi A4 DTM, spun after a collision on the opening lap of the race and dropped back to the end of the field. Mortara came home 16th. The fourth DTM race weekend of the season takes place at the Lausitzring from June 17th till 19th.

After successfully launching their first ever women oriented program last month, Goodyear has kicked off their first “Survival Training” workshop held at the Nusajaza Goodyear Autocare Centre.


The incident happened as the leaders were threading their way through the back markers, but the race was soon suspended as it became apparent that the Russian was unconscious and needed medical assistance. As the decision was taken to suspend the race, everyone went for the freshest tyres they had. When the race resumed for its final six laps, McLaren repaired Lewis Hamilton’s rear wing and Vettel, back on badly-needed fresh rubber, won easily from Alonso and Button.

Just after that, something happened in the battle for the lead. Tsukakoshi in car No. 17 had been chasing Matsuda in No. 12 at a faster pace and was already on his tail by lap 45, where he made a braking mistake going into the hairpin turn and did a half-spin that sent his car colliding into No. 12. (Matsuda). This caused Matsuda to spin as well. Tsukakoshi (No. 17) recovered first and took the lead, but three laps later the decision was made to give him a drive-through penalty as the one responsible for the collision. On the same lap 47 where Tsukakoshi was given his penalty, the battle for third was heating up. Yamamoto in car No. 100 passed car No. 36 (Nakajima) in the Atwood Curve. When No. 17 (Tsukakoshi) returned to the pit lane for the drive-through penalty, it moved No. 100 (Yamamoto) up into second position. From this point on, Yamamoto in car No. 100 began to close the gap slowly on No. 12 (Matsuda), but the gap was too was too big for him to catch No. 12 before it took the chequered and the win.
