Nope, your eyes are not kidding. Just months after launching the new MINI Hatch, MINI has expanded its model range with the addition of an entirely new body variant: the MINI 5-door Hatch.


Well, that is on paper. Factor in the almost 2-tonne kerb weight and you should be able to realize why it takes 9.5 seconds to get from standstill to 100km/h. Realistically speaking though, the 508 RXH feels brisk when moving off traffic light junctions; it won’t do the job as rapid as an A4 Avant (2.0 TFSI quattro), but it is not as breathless as you would expect as well. I took the car up for a day-trip to Melaka, and I must say it does the job of chomping mileage at high speeds rather respectably — notably, while it seems flat higher up the power band, the sweet spot lies within the mid-range.

Audi Reveals New TT At Geneva Motor Show

The edgier, lighter, more powerful third generation Audi TT and Audi TTS strut their stuff at their world premieres at the Geneva Motor Show.


Like the previous model the full-sized MPV will come in two variants - the EX and the EXV. The EX is the 'base' model, although it already comes with quite a list of features and seats the most number of people (eight vs. seven in the EXV). Available as standard on both models are Honda's new 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, HondaLink navigation and of course, the 2.4-litre DOHC i-VTEC engine with Earth Dreams technology. The unit pumps out a healthy 172bhp and 225Nm and will return a fuel consumption figure of 12.7km/L.

BMW Asia is set to unveil the new BMW M235i Coupé this coming Friday, February 28th.


Paired to a six-speed auto transmission (no change here), it now whips out 151 bhp and 191 Nm of torque; despite now 15 bhp and 6 Nm down, the upside here is you get improved fuel consumption. According to Hyundai, it has a combined cycle of 8.4 litres/100 km (or 11.9 km/L) compared to the previous 11.4 litres/100 km (or 8.8 km/L). Oh, even the CO2 emission has dropped from 209 g/km to 200 g/km now; we can hear Green Peace giving a sigh of relief…

Volkswagen's Category A Knockouts

Punching above their weight, a selection of Volkswagen's new line-up of Category A cars was offered to the media over a two-day drive trip to Kuantan, Malaysia.


The fifth generation 911 GT3, a completely new development, has a power-to-weight ratio of 3.0 kg/hp and the ability to achieve a top speed of 315 km/h. It accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in a mere 3.5 seconds and completes a lap at Nürburgring Nordschleife in just under 7:30 minutes. As a technical highlight, it features the first active rear-wheel steering in a production Porsche, as well as optional full-LED headlights. The powertrain consists of a 3.8-liter boxer engine yielding 475 bhp at 8,250 rpm, a Porsche dual-clutch transmission (PDK) and a high-traction rear-wheel drive.
