Mercedes had been weighing their options ever since Hamilton revealed his plans to leave at the end of the season to join Ferrari. And just a day after Antonelli made his FP1 debut at his home Grand Prix in Monza, Mercedes confirmed the news on the eve of the Italian Grand Prix. After clinching the ADAC and Italian F4 titles in 2022, followed by the Formula Regional European Championship in 2023, Antonelli skipped F3 and went straight to F2 with PREMA this season. Despite his inexperience, the Mercedes junior has already claimed two race victories and currently sits sixth in the championship standings. Alongside his F2 campaign, Antonelli has been gaining valuable experience testing older-spec F1 machinery with Mercedes. “It’s an incredible feeling to be announced as a Mercedes works driver alongside George for 2025,” Antonelli shared, his excitement palpable. “F1 has been a dream since I was a little boy, and I’m grateful to the team for the support they’ve given me and the trust they’ve shown. I’m still learning a lot, but I feel ready for this opportunity. My focus is on improving and delivering the best results for the team.”

This is the sixth BMW 5 Series Touring, born out of the eighth-generation 5 Series. Code-named G61, as opposed to the G60 sedan version, the official launch in Germany, many other European countries and Japan will begin in May 2024. Other markets are set to follow in June 2024. Compared to its predecessor, the new G61 is 97mm longer at 5,060mm, 32mm wider at 1,900mm and 17mm taller at 1,515mm. This 5'er Touring has the longest wheelbase in its class, increasing by 20 millimetres to 2,995 millimetres. For the first time, the 5'er Touring will be available as a battery electric vehicle (EV or BEV), and headlining the EV segment is the i5 M60 xDrive Touring.

With 30 years of competitive experience, Sauber is one of the most renowned and traditional teams in Formula 1. The Swiss racing team is currently in a partnership with Alfa Romeo. Sauber will be responsible for planning and executing race operations during the Formula 1 season. With its new collaboration with Audi, the power unit will be developed at Audi’s Motorsport Competence Center in Neuburg an der Donau, while Sauber will produce the Formula 1 car at its site in Hinwil (Switzerland).
