The world of Formula 1 is a delicate art of cutting-edge technology. Every little tweak and change in regulation can make a world of difference to teams, and one such tweak that has been the hot topic of discussion for months was the tyre blanket ban. These are pads that keep those slick tyres toasty warm before a session, giving them that extra grip on the track. But, the FIA has suddenly decided to postpone this much-discussed ban. And when I say “postpone,” I mean they’re holding off until after the 2024 season. Why, you ask? Well, it’s all about energy consumption and the sport’s environmental sustainability targets. They want to make sure they’ve got all their gears in sync before they make such a significant change.

Formula 1 will postpone the hotly-debated ban on tyre-heating blankets until after the 2024 season, according to FIA officials.


The Singapore Motorshow is poised to feature 24 different automotive brands spread out across two levels of the convention halls. Of which, Polestar will be making its first appearance at a local Motorshow and will be rolling out a new concept model at the event. With the push for greener transport alternatives, electric and hybrid cars are expected to be the main stars of the 2023 show, in line with the Singapore Green Plan 2030.

Save The Dates: The Singapore Motorshow is Back in 2023

After a long three-year hiatus due to the pandemic, the Singapore Motorshow is back with a bang, taking place from 12th to 15th January 2023 at the Suntec Singapore Convention & Exhibition Centre.


We start with a name and a style that’s all too common in the modified car scene these days: Pandem/Rocket Bunny. They’re a line of wide body kits by a company called TRA Kyoto, brainchild of a certain Kei Miura. He designs, builds and sells kits for a huge variety of cars, from classics like the Nissan Fairlady Z and BMW E30, to JDM favourites like the Nissan Silvia and Toyota 86/Subaru BRZ, to modern stuff like the Toyota GR Supra and Yaris, and even the C8 Corvette!

Where the electric dream short-circuits I’m no scientist myself , but it’s highly unlikely that all our mobility needs can be met by electricity alone. Car makers might be diving into electrified vehicles in a big way (spurred on by legislation of course), but it’s far from a catch-all solution. Flaws include its low energy density (by weight/volume), making the technology unsuitable for most heavy duty transport applications. Lorries, planes and ships would require such large battery packs that they’d be essentially useless at hauling cargo.

Random dinnertime banter very quickly turned into a 3,700 kilometre roadtrip... in a classic German luxobarge.


Is there more power? Many changes have been made to make the GR 86 same but better. For starters, the new 2.4-litre lump makes 35 bhp more than the outgoing 2.0-litre, now producing 232 bhp and 250 Nm. As in the new BRZ, peak torque in the GR 86 is available from a much more usable 3,700rpm.
