Recognition for achievements of Saab Automobile Chairman Victor Muller from major European automotive publication signals the start of a new era for the Saab brand.


Virtually all the lines were penned to carve out the dynamic profile. The C-pillar of the all-new S60 stretches sensually all the way to the tail lamps, and the slim coupe-like roof line is accompanied by a new contour on the shoulders on either side of the lower body, creating a gentle yet powerful double wave from the headlamps at the front to the tail lamps at the rear. The dip in the middle of the double wave visually pushes the car down. This enhances the stance and makes the car look sleeker and lower. The sculpted bonnet and the short overhangs front and rear also emphasise the sports car feel.

A group of driving enthusiasts recently attended a Defensive Car Control Course organised by SMSC.

Innovations Software Technology’s strength is to develop advanced, modular software solutions that can be customised for a variety of enterprises. Their flexible design offers a comfortable information platform for the drivers of electric vehicles and to network operators, it provides the ability to remotely manage charging stations, including software update, encryption, metering, billing and surveillance. There is also a smart grid control function for utilities to monitor demand and energy distribution. In addition, the open system enables easy integration with other software solutions for supplementary business models and information services which can be easily interconnected. Together with local partners SingTel and Greenlots, this project marks Bosch’s foray into developing urban infrastructure system solutions to achieve an integrated infrastructure for electric vehicles in a mega city environment for the first time in Asia Pacific.

ABT Open-house 2010 at Autovox

Autovox welcomed friends and media to the first ABT Sportsline open-house. Set in a casual backdrop of their showroom, guests were treated to ABT tuned demo cars to drive and a yummy buffet to boot


Without the weight burden of a four-wheel drive train, a lower centre of gravity and a track wider than the Golf R’s, the Scirocco R handles corners with aplomb and speed, with only the slightest hint of torque steer on uneven road surfaces, this in my opinion is a trait displayed by well balanced high performance rides. Like the Golf R, the Scirocco R is also equipped with the standard chassis control system that allows a driver to adjust the damper, steering weight and throttle response in three different mode settings, as usual I had it in Sports on the test route we often patronise. In Sports mode, the Scirocco R handles ably with the suspension well modulated to tight corners and bumpy surfaces. Like the Golf R, speed retardation is also excellent, with the very same 345mm front and 310mm rear brakes working up a treat with great immediacy.

Like Ferrari’s Felipe Massa at the end of the first lap - who started from the last position on the grid - Red Bull’s Mark Webber took advantage of the hiatus to switch from the soft-compound Bridgestone tyres to the more durable hard rubber, hoping to avoid stopping again. The Australian was followed by a host of midfield runners all hoping for similar strategic fortune. By the time racing resumed on the sixth lap, Webber was already back up to 10th as he swept past Timo Glock’s Virgin. At the front Alonso quickly regained his rhythm, holding Vettel at bay by 1.3 seconds as Hamilton maintained third and Button began to drift back in fourth place.

Burnpavement.com was invited by Shell to witness the 2010 Singtel Singapore Formula 1 GP up close and was brought around the track and general area.


Ahead of the Qualifying Session, on Saturday 25th September at the Marina Bay circuit, 25 Ferrari owners took part in a track parade, led by the technological laboratory car 599XX, in its first appearance in Singapore. The event, dedicated to owners that want to experience Prancing Horse fun to drive at its purest, was arranged by Ferrari distributors Ital Auto Pte Ltd, in association with the Grand Prix organizers and Formula One Management.
