Of the nearly 126,000 vehicles registered worldwide, Ford reported 81,866 of those were registered in the United States where the Mustang is manufactured, meaning just over one-third of all Mustang registrations are occurring in export markets. Ford sold 13,100 Mustangs in Europe - consisting of the U.K, Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Romania, Sweden and Switzerland - last year according to the company’s own data, even outselling the Porsche 911 in 13 European markets.

The company is also dropping its 3.7-liter V6 engine, which officials say account for roughly 15 percent of sales, in favor of the turbocharged 2.3-liter EcoBoost and 5.0-liter V8. Ford’s new 10-speed automatic transmission, which debuted last year on the F-150, will come as an option with both engines too. The 2018 Mustang went on display Tuesday at the 2017 Detroit auto show and was unveiled at other events in Los Angeles and New York.“The new Mustang is our best ever, based on more than 50 years as one of the iconic sports car in America and now, the world,” said Joe Hinrichs, Ford’s president of the Americas, said in a statement.

Round 1: Streets of Long Beach provided fans with action and excitement through the weekend. The debut of new vehicles and new drivers added to the anticipation for the new season.


As with most finals, the final event did not fail to disappoint, showcasing intense drifting action that will determine a new champion. The battle for third place pitted Darren McNamara in the Falken Tire Saturn Sky against Michihiro Takatori in the BF Goodrich Nissan S15. McNamara pushed his car too hard hitting the wall and taking himself out of the competition giving Takatori third place. The final battle placed two time Formula DRIFT champion Tanner Foust against Vaughn Gittin Jr. After a close One More Time battle, Foust edged out Gittin to take the event victory as well as secure his first Tires.com Triple Crown bonus prize.
