• Also a twin turbo unit, the V6 with 410 bhp is not too shabby either. 550Nm of torque can be had at the top end of 5000 rpm, with an accessible 500 Nm from as low as 1500 rpm. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 5.1 seconds, and the V6 will hit 284 km/h, while the V8 will touch 307 km/h given the space.

    • The two Audi R8 LMS cars are fielded by WRT. They are competing under the entry submitted by the Belgian Audi Club, as part of a factory-supported Audi customer sport programme. The Belgian team, headed by former racer Vincent Vosse, clinched the first two 24-hour overall victories of the R8 LMS at Spa and at Zolder.

In Malaysia, both race cars are fielded with the same endurance specification as at the 24-hour races in Europe. Frankfurt To Host ROC 2011

The 24th Race Of Champions will be held on the weekend of December 3-4, 2011 at the Commerzbank-Arena in Frankfurt, Germany.

German motor racing superstars Michael Schumacher and Sebastian Vettel are celebrating again at the news that the Race Of Champions will ... MORE

    • In recent years the Race Of Champions has visited the Stade de France in Paris (2004-2006), London’s Wembley Stadium (2007-2008), Beijing’s ‘Bird’s Nest’ Olympic Stadium (2009) and Düsseldorf’s ESPRIT arena (2010). Now ROC 2011 will return to Germany and the city of Frankfurt, to the delight of the pairing that has all but made the ROC Nations Cup its own. Reigning Formula 1 world champion Sebastian Vettel said: “After winning the world championship there were a lot of emotions and pictures in my head that I will never forget. One was racing at the Race Of Champions in front of my home crowd and to win the ROC Nations Cup with Michael for Team Germany. So I enjoyed it a lot, up to the point where I got beaten in the semi-final of the individual event! Every year I get a little further. First I made it to the round of 16, then the quarter-final, then the semi-final. So hopefully this year I will make it into the final and win it. That’s the big target for Frankfurt in December. We all have a lot of fun every time we go, but the moment we put our helmets on we take it very seriously and we go hard.”

Seven-time F1 world champion Michael Schumacher added: “It’s important to us to be in our home country so we’re really looking forward to throwing some beautiful cars around the Frankfurt circuit in December. Last year it was a great atmosphere. You’re so close to the fans that you can hear them even though the engines are noisy. And I’m sure it will be even better in Frankfurt. We have a strong line-up in the ROC Nations Cup but no doubt the other nations will have plenty of motivation to finally beat us. Unfortunately the individual event takes place on the last day and we always have a good party after Team Germany wins so I guess I’m not completely fresh… I’ll try to work on that this year and I very much look forward to having lots of support. We need lots of cheering and lots of crossed fingers so please all come!”
    • It’s not just about the home team, as the Race Of Champions brings together stars from all over the world. Last year’s roll call included the greatest drivers of all time from the World Rally Championship (Sébastien Loeb), Le Mans (Tom Kristensen) and World Touring Cars (Andy Priaulx) plus legendary names including Alain Prost, Mick Doohan, Carl Edwards and Travis Pastrana. Even given that dazzling field, the individual Champion of Champions title was taken by a driver who surprised the lot of them: Portugal’s Filipe Albuquerque, who defeated Vettel in the semi-final and Loeb in a tense Grand Final by fractions of a second.

The hood, doors, quarter panels, front fascia and rear fascia are all built out of carbon/Kevlar. The carbon/Kevlar panels are 75 percent lighter than the sheet metal they replaced. • We understand that romanticism has its obstinacy at times. Especially if it’s English. So what’s in a name? That which we call a rose by any other name would smell as sweet? That after a stretch of ten aging years we ended up calling an Elise an Exige and the Exige an upgraded manifestation of the Elise and it’s unbelievably the same if you are comparing the white iPhone and the black iPhone. But the insistence in making all things beautiful and exclusive has been their call, with the exception of the Rover series. Rovers are unusually ugly, I insist. Nonetheless these are always features bounded by everlasting English designs.
    • And he does it awe-inspiringly with some cryogenic freezing technology minus the frost bites. No superpower would be raising their arms in protest this time because there’s nothing nuclear to it. Besides sporting a supercharged 2ZZ-GE (Toyotalised), the engine internals have been heated sufficiently and cooled with liquid nitrogen vapors to under 300 degrees Fahrenheit, which releases residual metal stress to re-create a tougher and more durable molecular composition for the mechanical parts. This cryogenically enhancement process ensures an extended lifespan for the performance components so that it can keep working harder for your functional gratification should you decide to pay another 70 grand for a piece of document to floor it locally for another decade, because you are already accumulating much savings from purchasing less expensive replacement parts. I suspect there are more frozen parts than my doddering memory can support. From the titanium con-rods to the valves and pistons, the main and rod ACL bearings have been buttered up nicely with ceramic layers which enhance the heat insulation against high temperatures and corrosion by the hot gasses. The leftover nutella did not end up on your kid’s face. The snout bearings of the supercharger, piston dome, Eibach valve springs and retainers, all got a taste of it.

    • With the race starting at 15:00, there were few changes in the order of the leading cars in the early stages. Pressing forward steadily, the pole-starting No.8 ARTA HSV-010 (Yuji Ide) had built up a five seconds lead over the second placed No.23 MOTUL AUTECH GT-R (Satoshi Motoyama) by lap five. As the result of an apparent brush-up with a GT300 class back marker, the lead car No. 8 suffered damage to its lower left aerodynamic parts but that didn't seem to affect Ide's lap times. However, when Ide brought the ARTA back to the pit for its first routine pit stop at the end of lap 26, it took time to remove the damaged parts from the car, resulting in a twice as long lengthy pit stop than normal. By the time No. 8 returned to the race it had been passed by its rival, and all the other cars had already finished their first pit stop about a quarter of the way into the race, with No. 8 in fourth position. At this point, the No.32 EPSON HSV-010 (Ryo Michigami/Yuhki Nakayama) was leading. By shortening the first stint and making an early pit stop after the 17th lap, No. 32 had avoided the late rush of pit stops and succeeded in taking the lead.
    • Standing in second place was the No.100 RAYBRIG HSV-010 (Takuya Izawa/Naoki Yamamoto), having passed car No. 23 (Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer) earlier, and in third place was car No. 23. As car No. 32 (Nakayama/Michigami) made its second pit stop at the end of lap, car No. 100 (Yamamoto/Izawa) took the lead and No. 23 (Motoyama/Benoit Treluyer) was in second, while No. 8 (Ide/Ralph Firman) moved up to third position. On the S curve of lap 52, however, Treluyer in car No. 23 hit a back marker and spun out. He recovered quickly but not before Firman in car No. 8 managed to get past him. After all cars had finished their second pit stop by lap 60, the order of the top three was No. 32 (Michigami) followed by No. 8 (Ide) and No. 100 (Izawa). At the end of lap 71, Car no. 32 pulled into the pit for its third routine pit stop. They changed drivers from Michigami to Nakayama and thus satisfied the requirement of three driver changes, but due to the fuel consumption rate of the car, they would need to make one more pit stop for refueling before the end of the race. In an attempt to open up the necessary margin for that final stop, Nakayama pushed hard. With the sun setting and the track surface temperature dropping, Nakayama managed to run lap times in the 1 minute 57 seconds range.

    • Providing more information on the Singapore G1, Mr Howard Shaw, Executive Director, SEC added, “We are witnessing a revolution in transport sectors in our need to transform into a low carbon economy. However the vast majority of scientists agree that this revolution is taking place at a rate that is too slow if we are to meet emissions targets required to prevent catastrophic changes in global temperatures. The Singapore G1 aims to act as a catalyst to change and drive the shifting paradigm of the transport industry by stimulating consumer interest. In the medium term we hope that the Singapore G1 will become the pioneering green motor sports event and that this will then catch on in the region.” The inaugural Singapore G1 will take place at the F1 track at the Float@Marina on 19 September 2010. This four-hour event starts in the late afternoon, and is supported by Singapore GP, North West CDC, and LTA.
