Chevrolet Wins Again Before Hungarian Crowd

Chevrolet collected two more victories in Budapest and improved the team's tally to an impressive seven wins out of the eight races held so far.

Right from the start, it was a relatively trouble-free run from pole to chequered flag for Imperatori, with the exception of a hairy moment when the race leader caught up with back markers in the latter stages of the 12-lap race. However behind him, it was a repeat of Round 3's white-knuckle battle between Sawa and Avila. Avila got away well from the second row and, as Sawa challenged Imperatori for the lead off the line, the Macau racer was able to charge round the outside and into second, albeit briefly. The Japanese ace reclaimed the position by turn four, and from there Avila relentlessly piled on the pressure. The trio were nose to tail in the early stages before the lightning-quick Imperatori pulled out a modest gap.

From the start of the 2011 Formula One season, Infiniti has joined the Red Bull Racing team as a major partner and features prominently on the race-winning RB7 driven by Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber. The incident happened as the leaders were threading their way through the back markers, but the race was soon suspended as it became apparent that the Russian was unconscious and needed medical assistance. As the decision was taken to suspend the race, everyone went for the freshest tyres they had. When the race resumed for its final six laps, McLaren repaired Lewis Hamilton’s rear wing and Vettel, back on badly-needed fresh rubber, won easily from Alonso and Button.

So significant is the event that LRPhils brought in no less than RFC founder and creator, Luis J.A.Wee to witness the event and to oversee the construction of the RFC SS designed according to the standards of RFC Prologue format. Daniel Liew, RFC East Malaysia Rep, Dennis Javier a veteran Filipino campaigner in RFC assisted in the SS design with PORCI organizing committee. Robby Consunji, the RFC Rep for Philippines was overall in charge as the Race Director. With the meticulous planning done, it was all systems go on D-Day.

Over the 18 laps of the two races, Huff did not commit the slightest mistake, never opened the smallest gap and always kept the most favourable line.

But on lap 42, he passed Rosberg for third and then proceeded to overtake Felipe Massa two laps later to move up to second, 4.6 seconds behind Vettel. The gap between Vettel and Hamilton was soon whittled down over the next eight laps, with Hamilton eventually passing Vettel with five laps remaining.

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton overcame his pre-race gremlins to end Sebastian Vettel's dominance with a victory at the Chinese Grand Prix.

Off the blocks, a dramatic start saw Imperatori get away cleanly from pole with the trio of Keita Sawa, team mate Darryl O’Young and Avila snapping at his heels. The resulting struggle for position saw both the LKM Racing Team drivers pick up punctures, forcing them to pit. Both returned to the track, with O’Young setting the fastest lap of the race and making it up to 14th by the flag, and Sawa two places behind. Imperatori set about pulling away in front, but Avila fought to keep him in his sights, but without risking valuable championship points. The Team StarChase ace had build up a gap of more than six seconds by the flag.

More than just a new face, the rear-suspension is firmed up for better straight-line and
lower body roll. Suzuki has also tweaked the wheelbase, stiffened the body and suspension mountings. There is also a nifty new variable-gear-ratio steering rack which delivers quicker response while keeping the effort needed to steer lower. Brakes have also been beefed up and the manual transmission receiving a shift assist to make gear changes smoother.
