Recognition for achievements of Saab Automobile Chairman Victor Muller from major European automotive publication signals the start of a new era for the Saab brand.


Virtually all the lines were penned to carve out the dynamic profile. The C-pillar of the all-new S60 stretches sensually all the way to the tail lamps, and the slim coupe-like roof line is accompanied by a new contour on the shoulders on either side of the lower body, creating a gentle yet powerful double wave from the headlamps at the front to the tail lamps at the rear. The dip in the middle of the double wave visually pushes the car down. This enhances the stance and makes the car look sleeker and lower. The sculpted bonnet and the short overhangs front and rear also emphasise the sports car feel.

A group of driving enthusiasts recently attended a Defensive Car Control Course organised by SMSC.


Held in the day, the test drives had the participants' plying their driving routes from Conrad Bali at Benoa to the Peak that overlooks the idyllic Suluban Beach at Uluwatu. In the process of driving to and fro in all 19 spanking new BMWs that ranged from the 325i to the latest X5 xDrive 30d, the participants' fuel efficiency were measured and recorded to see which driver is the most fuel efficient.

Whilst Bosch is already devoting substantial research efforts to electric power trains and batteries, it is also supporting Singapore’s eMobility test bed via its newly setup software and systems unit in Singapore, Innovations Software Technology. Innovations Software Technology’s strength is to develop advanced, modular software solutions that can be customised for a variety of enterprises. Their flexible design offers a comfortable information platform for the drivers of electric vehicles and to network operators, it provides the ability to remotely manage charging stations, including software update, encryption, metering, billing and surveillance. There is also a smart grid control function for utilities to monitor demand and energy distribution. In addition, the open system enables easy integration with other software solutions for supplementary business models and information services which can be easily interconnected. Together with local partners SingTel and Greenlots, this project marks Bosch’s foray into developing urban infrastructure system solutions to achieve an integrated infrastructure for electric vehicles in a mega city environment for the first time in Asia Pacific.

Autovox welcomed friends and media to the first ABT Sportsline open-house. Set in a casual backdrop of their showroom, guests were treated to ABT tuned demo cars to drive and a yummy buffet to boot


Without the weight burden of a four-wheel drive train, a lower centre of gravity and a track wider than the Golf R’s, the Scirocco R handles corners with aplomb and speed, with only the slightest hint of torque steer on uneven road surfaces, this in my opinion is a trait displayed by well balanced high performance rides. Like the Golf R, the Scirocco R is also equipped with the standard chassis control system that allows a driver to adjust the damper, steering weight and throttle response in three different mode settings, as usual I had it in Sports on the test route we often patronise. In Sports mode, the Scirocco R handles ably with the suspension well modulated to tight corners and bumpy surfaces. Like the Golf R, speed retardation is also excellent, with the very same 345mm front and 310mm rear brakes working up a treat with great immediacy.

My oh my! That soundtrack is addictive! It's been about a month since I got the R32 and it has burned as much cash as it has pavement!


The effects of the typhoon included mudslides and other damage within the grounds of Fuji Speedway, and although reconstruction work is under way, there has also been severe damage to roads in the vicinity of the Speedway. It has become evident that attempting to hold the race as scheduled under such conditions would not only be an imposition on the spectators attempting to come to the race, it could also seriously hinder the work of the local authorities and citizens to recover quickly from the typhoon damage. As such, the Oyama Town authorities has made a request to cancel the race.

Team strength brings ARTA HSV-010 its first win of the season while MOTUL AUTECH GT-R passes RAYBRIG HSV-010 to finish second!


For the No. 17 KEIHIN HSV-010, its first podium finish of the season was also its first victory. For the team and for Koudai Tsukakoshi, this was their first SUPER GT victory. Toshihiro Kaneishi has one victory in the All Star Race of 2004, but this is his first win in a series round. After having victory stolen out of their hands, the No. 18 Weider HSV-010 (Takashi Kogure/Loic Duval) team settled for a disappointing second. Finishing third was the No. 6 ENEOS SC430 (Daisuke Ito/Bjorn Wirdheim). Staring from eighth position on the grid, the first-stint driver, Wirdheim had managed to avoid the early confusion and move up through the pack. Over the second half of the race, his teammate Ito had been able to hold pace and claim this podium finish. With this finish, Ito and Wirdheim remains top in the rankings.
