Power comes courtesy of a 4.4-litre bi-turbo V8 engine derived from the outgoing M5, but revised to feature newly developed turbochargers, ultra-efficient charge air cooling and increased fuel injection pressure, increasing power to 600 bhp and 750 Nm of torque, up from the F10-chassis M5’s 560 bhp and 678 Nm. The century sprint takes just 3.4 seconds, all the way to an electronically limited top speed of 250kmh. With the optional M Driver’s Package, however, the fun continues till the speedometer touches 305kmh.

Yours truly took the Huracan All-Wheel Drive on a quick spin around the Marina Bay area, and it must be said this 610 bhp/560 Nm 5.2-litre V10 sports car impresses with its smooth and predictable power delivery, lovely exhaust note and addictive engine roar. Build quality is faultless to say the least, and the cockpit is one of the best place to be in, for something costing just below a million dollars, without options.

AMG is going all out for the styling; the car has a very aggressive appearance to tell all the bystanders that this is no businessman’s bog-stock E-Class, but a performance car capable of scarsely believable performance figures. The front and rear bumpers, headlights and the side skirts have been modified. The headlights come in the form of a one-piece unit with LEDs and bi-xenon, as compared to the two-piece unit on the outgoing car.
