Roman De Angelis and Spencer Pumpelly steered the #27 THoR Aston Martin Vantage GT3 to a decisive win. For De Angelis, this victory was particularly sweet, marking his second home event win in three years. Despite the pressure of a late-race Full Course Yellow, the team maintained their lead, delivering THoR's and Aston Martin's first GTD class win with the new Vantage GT3.

Aston Martin's new Vantage GT3 secured a second consecutive win in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship.


Following the endurance classics at Daytona and Sebring (both USA), this marks the first and shortest sprint race of the year. Fresh from a podium finish at Sebring, BMW M Team RLL heads to California with momentum, and will again field two BMW M Hybrid V8s in the GTP class. Over in the GTD category, three BMW M4 GT3s will also line the starting grid.

The Vantage GTE is the prototype version of the British-built race car derived from Aston Martin’s critically-acclaimed ultra-luxury sportscar and shares the same aluminium body frame and a specially-tuned version of the four-litre V8 turbo-charged production engine. Aston Martin is aiming for its first podium at Portimão on its final visit to the Portuguese track before the class switches to GT3 machinery in 2024.

A dual assault is scheduled for 2024, as the Italian motorsports gangs of Lamborghini Squadra Corse and Iron Lynx combine forces, setting the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) and IMSA Sportscar Championship squarely in their sights. This joint team will be called Lamborghini Iron Lynx, and will be the official Lamborghini team in the aforementioned championships. Also working in close collaboration is PREMA Engineering, under the PREMA Group umbrella which also owns PREMA Power Team. The team is well known for racing championships such as Formula 2, Formula 3, Formula Regional European Championship and the like.

The centrepiece of the Blancpain GT Series, to be held on July 26th to 29th, marks the return of the NSX name to the Spa 24 Hours, a quarter of a century after Armin Hahne, Bertrand Gachot and Kazuo Shimizu started the 1993 race from pole position in a Honda Belgium-entered car which was also supported by Castrol. The NSX has achieved significant success in motor racing since its launch in 1990, including GT victory at the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours and six titles in Japan’s ultra-competitive Super GT series.
