What makes this project revolutionary is that the biodiesel will be obtained exclusively from recycling waste cooking oil generated by The Westin Singapore, thereby forming a self-sustaining 'waste-to-energy' loop. In addition, The Westin Singapore’s Green Luxury limousines represent the first luxury limousine fleet in Singapore to consist completely of biodiesel-powered vehicles.

EDIFICE has been designated as the Official Watch Partner for the 2012 and 2013 seasons, and the Casio logo will continue to appear on racing suits worn by Vettel and Webber, as well as on the team wear. The logo will also stay on the nose sections of the team’s race cars. Casio has renewed its contract with the Formula One World Champions, the Red Bull Racing team. Casio will make the most of this relationship to strengthen the brand image of its EDFICE watches.


On the bright side however, diesel engines are able to use 100 per cent biodiesel as their fuel, unlike petrol engines, which can so far use a mix of 95 per cent fossil fuel and 5 per cent ethanol as an alternative. Biodiesel can be made from used cooking oil, palm oil, Jatropha oil, and in many research and development projects using algae. Recently in March, Neste Oil opened its largest biodiesel plant in Singapore. Capable of producing 800,000 tonnes of renewable fuel from palm oil, the plant was built on a budget of about S$970 million.

The Red Bull Rookies Team 2011 will be made up of two drivers from Malaysia, one from Brunei and one from Singapore. This search is open out to females age 18 to 30 years old who have a distinct passion for speed! The search was recently conducted through auditions held at various local universities and public areas. In addition, an online campaign via website and Facebook as well as local radio station Power 98 reached out to the ladies with passion in motor sports. The search began on 14 February 2011 at National University Singapore, followed by 15 February 2011 at Singapore Institute of Management, 17 February 2011 at Singapore Management University and ended with a public search at Parco Bugis Junction on 19 February 2011.

A good sign of the recovering economy, the North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) features an impressive exhibitor's list.


For many years, SPD has been providing professional care to help unlock the hidden potential of approximately 2,800 physically disabled clients. Clients visit the SPD Ability Centre in Tiong Bahru and SPD@Tampines for a variety of services, including rehabilitation, day care, as well as IT and vocational training. Public transportation can be a challenge for some SPD clients and they rely on seven SPD-owned vans that are wheelchair-enabled and specially adapted to meet their needs, supplemented by 11 vans run by an outsourced transport provider. Many clients are from low-income families and are unable to afford charges for this transport service.
