2025 GT-R sales are planned to start in June 2024.

It’s been 16 years since the Nissan R35 GT-R made its debut back in 2007. Not many cars survive that long of a production run, but the boffins at Nissan surprised the world again with the launch of the 2024 GT-R model year, after revealing earlier in 2022 that the R35 GT-R will be ending production.

Ageing chassis infrastructure did not stop engineers from chucking both mechanical and cosmetic improvements to the GT-R. For starters, the biggest reaction from the crowd at its launch was the inclusion of new daytime running lights (DRLs), making the GT-R’s front fascia look more futuristic.

The R35 GT-R doesn’t seem to want to retire, and Nissan proudly unveiled their latest 2024 edition to the world at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2023.

Much to the disappointment of the former group, the second-generation Subaru BRZ broke cover this week with an engine that didn’t feature forced induction. Despite the absence of a turbocharger, however, the new BRZ still offers a power bump over its predecessor.

Unique collaboration between the two names created a new prototype vehicle — the Nissan GT-R50 by Italdesign

The new GT-R's exterior gets a complete makeover across the front end. The new chrome in matte finish 'V-motion' grille with an updated mesh pattern has been enlarged to provide better engine cooling, while the bumper sides were optimally reshaped to retain the car’s air drag and downforce. A new hood, which flows upwards from the grille, has been significantly reinforced, contributing to stability during high-speed driving. A freshly designed front spoiler lip and front bumpers with finishers situated immediately below the headlamps generates high levels of front downforce.

Like the standard car, the GT-R NISMO’s front end features a fresh face with a dramatic new bumper. However on this model, it is made entirely from carbon fibre to reduce weight. Then to help cool the car’s high-output engine, the dark chrome V-motion grille has been enlarged to collect more air; the redesign has been carefully shaped to improve airflow around the vehicle and generate a high level of downforce, while at the same time directing air around the wheels to improve the aerodynamics. The GT-R NISMO generates more downforce than any other Nissan production car to date, which results in exceptional high-speed stability.Power comes from a twin-turbocharged 3.8-litre V6 delivering 592 bhp; the engine features a pair of high-flow, large diameter turbochargers used in GT3 competition, and power is sent to all four wheels via a six-speed dual-clutch paddleshift gearbox.Â
