Development of the car included significant CFD simulation to optimize the ALA performance, with the exceptional downforce requiring an entire rework of the Aventador’s active and passive dynamic systems to exploit the car’s physical boundaries. Developing ALA strategies for the Aventador SVJ through both static and dynamic virtual simulations, a virtual attempt at the Nürburgring Nordschleife already returned a better lap time than the Lamborghini Huracán Performante.

And majestic it truly was. A short 10 minutes drive from the resort, we — ok, the X3 — climbed up all the way to the Seruni Point lookout point. Yes, most of the stock photos of the famed Mount Bromo sunrise you find online were taken at this exact spot. And how can I forget? Standing at the highest lookout point, you could also catch the moon in all its glory along with the Milky Way — I kid you not — here. If I may, this has to be one of the glorious views I’ve ever experienced hence now I understand why Mount Bromo attract visitors by the droves.

The centrepiece of the Blancpain GT Series, to be held on July 26th to 29th, marks the return of the NSX name to the Spa 24 Hours, a quarter of a century after Armin Hahne, Bertrand Gachot and Kazuo Shimizu started the 1993 race from pole position in a Honda Belgium-entered car which was also supported by Castrol. The NSX has achieved significant success in motor racing since its launch in 1990, including GT victory at the 1995 Le Mans 24 Hours and six titles in Japan’s ultra-competitive Super GT series.

To be publicly revealed in the first quarter of 2018, it will be delivered ahead of a second future Ultimate Series model codenamed BP23 that aims to be the world’s first Hyper-GT. As members of the McLaren Ultimate Series, both will be produced in very limited numbers and all examples are already assigned. Ultimate Series models are positioned above McLaren’s core Super Series and have a distinct focus; previous examples of the Series include the McLaren P1 and McLaren P1 GTR.

To put it in laymen’s term (that would be easy for non-engineers - like me, even - to decipher), it begins with a new Bridgestone innovated compound that was developed at the Nano level. This compound was designed to provide almost glue-like grip when it comes into contact with water. Secondly there are the deeper grooves, which are improved over its predecessor, the EP200. Last but not least a round rib edge, which maintain the tyre’s stiffness along with providing maximum contact shape and pressure.
