Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail Debuts in Singapore

BY Sean Loo

This very special Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail is one of four variants of the Droptail series, and represents the coachbuilt expression of tranquility.

Rolls-Royce Motor Cars recently unveiled the Arcadia Droptail at an exclusive event at Flower Field Hall in Gardens By the Bay, marking the first presentation of a coachbuilt Rolls-Royce in Asia.

The Arcadia Droptail is the third variant in the Droptail series, following the La Rose Noire Droptail and the Amethyst Droptail.

Each variant in the series is inspired by unique themes, reflecting the personal tastes and passions of their owners.

Named after the idyllic place depicted in Greek mythology, the Arcadia Droptail is envisioned as a serene refuge from the complexities of business life.

Its design draws inspiration from British 'Biomimetic' architecture and modernist tropical sky gardens, creating a blend of elegance and functionality.

Despite its roadster design, the Arcadia Droptail retains nautical influences, with 'sail cowls' that resemble a yacht's jib.

These elements not only add to the car's aesthetic appeal but also draw attention to its occupants.

The exterior of the Arcadia Droptail features a timeless white paint finish with aluminium and glass particles for a sparkling effect.

The lower section is painted in Bespoke silver, complemented by mirror-polished 22-inch alloy wheels and a distinctive front grille.

Inside, the Arcadia Droptail showcases Santos Straight Grain wood trim, known for its texture and interlocking grain pattern.

Despite its challenges in processing, Rolls-Royce used 233 pieces of wood in the interior, including the rear deck, which required 76 pieces laid at a 55-degree angle.

To protect the wood, Rolls-Royce developed a Bespoke lacquer that lasts the vehicle's lifetime, ensuring durability and longevity.

The interior is finished in two Bespoke hues, reserved exclusively for the client, creating a personalised and luxurious environment.

The dashboard features a specially crafted timepiece, the most complex made by Rolls-Royce to date, with a unique guilloche pattern and 119 facets, honouring the marque's 119th anniversary in 2023.

The Rolls-Royce Arcadia Droptail exemplifies the pinnacle of bespoke luxury, blending exquisite craftsmanship with personal expression, making it a true masterpiece on wheels.
