Subaru Tecnica International, Subaru's motorsport subsidiary, will participate in the 51st Nürburgring 24-Hour Race.


The blistering lap time beats the previous lap record of 6 minutes and 11.13 seconds — set by German racing driver Stefan Bellof in a Porsche 956 C in May 1983 — by a whopping 51.58 seconds.

The VLN endurance race provided the opportunity for Hyundai Motor to intensively test the i30 N car that feature technical specifications very close to the actual production car. The i30 N car was up against cars from other manufacturers, that are heavily modified, to cope with the demands of the VLN race.Albert Biermann, Hyundai Motor's Head of Vehicle Test and High Performance Development said, “We want our high performance brand to have considerable racing pedigree so it is important that we compete with minimal modifications. Nürburgring is where the i30 N has undergone much of its testing and chassis development.”

Close to production i30 N competed in endurance race, ahead of global launch later this year


The WRX STI NBR 24H Challenge car, prepared by Subaru Technica International (STI) specifically for the gruelling endurance race, completed 143 laps (approximately 3,629 km) in 24 hours, 12 laps ahead of the second placed car in its class. The WRX STI NBR was entered once more in the SP3T class, for turbocharged engines up to 2,000cc, and completed the race ahead of key rivals from Audi, Ford and Seat.

WRX STI finishes first in class; third class win for Subaru at gruelling 24-Hour race


The team car, a V8 Vantage GT4 N430, will run in the livery of one of the brand’s technology partners, Castrol, with further support from long-term partner Immun’age. Both partners continue to offer vital backing to the brand’s race programme, allowing the car to enter both the Dunlop Britcar 24hr Race and the famous ADAC Zurich Nürburgring 24 Hours later this year.

Barely a year into this new appointment, Aston Martin's CEO, Dr Andy Palmer, is swapping his business suit for a race suit as he lines up alongside three fellow drivers to campaign a V8 Vantage GT4.


Last year, Frank Biela, Darryl O’Young and Marco Werner celebrated second place at the first run of the Audi R8 LMS in this race. All three drivers are part of the grid again this year, albeit in a different formation - the two former Audi factory drivers Biela and Werner will be supported by the Swiss Marcel Fässler who has won the Le Mans 24 Hours for Audi this year. The trio’s combined track record totals nine Le Mans successes. The second Audi R8 LMS will be driven by another former Le Mans winner, Seiji Ara. The Japanese will share the car with Darryl O’Young from HongKong and Alex Yoong. The Malaysian enjoys a particular bonus at his home round on account of his huge popularity as he is the only former Grand Prix racer in his country.
