Tomczyk Wins DTM Lausitzring, Takes Points' Lead

DTM fans had a treat over the weekend with great duels and numerous overtaking manoeuvres.


26,000 spectators flocked to Silverstone to watch the Round 5 action, which saw Michael Krumm and Lucas Luhr claim a trio of accolades for JRM Nissan — victory in the Championship Race, the Tourist Trophy and the lead in the current Drivers’ Standings. Round 6 of the FIA GT1 World Championship will take place at Navarra in Spain on the 1 to 3 July 2011.

JRM Nissan takes the Tourist Trophy home in Silverstone thriller!


The Citroen driver had his work cut out after being given a one-minute penalty for an early check-in on Day One and started the final day over 47 seconds behind team-mate and race leader Sebastien Ogier. The seven-time world champion forced his way in front of second-placed Mikko Hirvonen in the day's first stage and by Stage 18, he had reduced Ogier's lead to 21 seconds after the leader encountered problems during Stage 17, most significantly problems with his power steering.

Sébastien Loeb Thrills Argentina!

Citroën drivers Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia dropped time in the final stages to hand victory to team-mates Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena on the very last stage.


The incident happened as the leaders were threading their way through the back markers, but the race was soon suspended as it became apparent that the Russian was unconscious and needed medical assistance. As the decision was taken to suspend the race, everyone went for the freshest tyres they had. When the race resumed for its final six laps, McLaren repaired Lewis Hamilton’s rear wing and Vettel, back on badly-needed fresh rubber, won easily from Alonso and Button.

Ortelli continued to lead the race as Kechele challenged Roda, but it took several laps before the Vita4One Ferrari 458 moved ahead and started to close the three seconds gap that Ortelli had managed to open up to his rivals. While Kechele was charging forward, Roda’s Porsche came under pressure from the two SOFREV ASP Ferrari’s of Ludovic Badey in the No. 20 Ferrari 458 and Julien Jousse in the No. 10 Ferrari 458.

Vita4One Ferrari Triumphs In Spain

The No. 1 Vita4One Ferrari 458 took its first victory in the Blancpain Endurance Series at Navarra in Spain, finishing 17 seconds ahead of the Belgian Audi Club Audi R8 LMS.


In third place, Martin Tomczyk became the best-placed driver of a 2008-spec car and thrilled the spectators with spirited attacks and overtaking manoeuvres. His efforts were rewarded. In the points’ standings, he is currently third behind Rockenfeller. British driver Jamie Green lost his second place at the start and was also overtaken by Tomczyk during the race. The Mercedes-Benz driver finished fourth ahead of two times’ DTM champion Timo Scheider (Audi). Audi driver Edoardo Mortara from Italy already scored his first-ever championship points by finishing sixth in his second race. He was followed by Maro Engel (Mercedes-Benz) and Mattias Ekström with the Audi A4 DTM. The Swede started 16th and still scored one point by finishing eighth.

Maiden Victory For Mike Rockenfeller At Zandvoort

In his 44th DTM race, Mike Rockenfeller scored his long overdue maiden victory in his 44th DTM race.


Toshiki Yoshioka found the podium again after a one year hiatus and placed in third beating John Russakoff in the consolation round. The finals pitted Falken Tire teammates Daijiro Yoshihara and Darren McNamara. With consistent driving Yoshihara again found the podium this season and won his second consecutive victory at Road Atlanta. With this victory Yoshihara moves into first place overall in the Pro Championship standings and takes the lead in the chase for the Tires.com Triple Crown.

Round 1: Streets of Long Beach provided fans with action and excitement through the weekend. The debut of new vehicles and new drivers added to the anticipation for the new season.


At the flag it was Andrea Piccini who took the first win for the No. 4 Hexis AMR Aston Martin DB9, taking the lead in the Driver's Championship for himself and Christian Hohenadel in the process. Hohenadel and Piccini now have 61 points to Marc Basseng's and Markus Winkelhock on 57. Darren Turner and Stefan Mücke are third on 56 points. The result also means Hexis AMR extend their lead in the Team Championship to 17 points over All-Inkl.com Münnich Motorsport.

Team drivers, Kris Meeke and Dani Sordo, had contrasting fortunes during the rally but ultimately the overriding feeling was one of positivity and optimism with their performance being officially recognised when they were presented with the Abu Dhabi Spirit of Rally Award.

Spengler Wins At Hockenheim

Pole position on Saturday and race victory on Sunday: for Bruno Spengler (Mercedes-Benz), the first DTM race of the season went according to plan.


After 14 punishing gravel special stages in the Jordan Valley, Ogier finished the two day event ahead of second-place Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland after trailing him in the final Power Stage, near the Dead Sea. In the end it was Ogier who came out tops as he recorded the fastest timing to best Latvala by half a second.

Ogier Strikes Again!

Following his success in Portugal, the French man records yet another victory in the Jordan Rally.


With all pit stops completed and 16 laps remaining, Hamilton was fourth. But on lap 42, he passed Rosberg for third and then proceeded to overtake Felipe Massa two laps later to move up to second, 4.6 seconds behind Vettel. The gap between Vettel and Hamilton was soon whittled down over the next eight laps, with Hamilton eventually passing Vettel with five laps remaining.

Hamilton Dents Vettel's Bid Of A Hattrick

McLaren's Lewis Hamilton overcame his pre-race gremlins to end Sebastian Vettel's dominance with a victory at the Chinese Grand Prix.


Off the blocks, a dramatic start saw Imperatori get away cleanly from pole with the trio of Keita Sawa, team mate Darryl O’Young and Avila snapping at his heels. The resulting struggle for position saw both the LKM Racing Team drivers pick up punctures, forcing them to pit. Both returned to the track, with O’Young setting the fastest lap of the race and making it up to 14th by the flag, and Sawa two places behind. Imperatori set about pulling away in front, but Avila fought to keep him in his sights, but without risking valuable championship points. The Team StarChase ace had build up a gap of more than six seconds by the flag.

Two In A Row From Pole!

The Malaysian Grand Prix on Sunday 10 April 2011 at the Sepang International Circuit saw Sebastian Vettel win his second race in a row ahead of Jenson Button and Nick Heidfeld.


As the field came through the first lap it was the No. 38 Lamborghini in the lead from the No. 11 Exim Bank Team China Corvette of Mike Hezemans and Nicky Catsburg. The field remained tightly bunched however with less than four seconds covering the top eight after five laps, and the order condensed further three laps later when the Safety Car came out. Peter Dumbreck had dived down the inside of the No. 40 Marc VDS Ford GT and looked to have the line, but spun as the Ford refused to cede ground and was collected by the helpless No. 9 Belgian Racing Ford GT - the resulting damage causing a lengthy Safety Car spell.

At the front Dumbreck was pressurising the leading Nissan of Bernoldi, while Martin was close behind the second placed JR Motorsport Nissan. For lap after lap the three cars circulated in formation, each trying to push the other into a mistake. Their battle allowed Winklehock and Piccione to close up to make it a five way battle for the lead as the pitstops approached. On lap 13 Martin finally got past Dumbreck's Nissan at T18 for second place just as the pit window opened.
