Volkswagen has confirmed their plans to build a production version of the all-electric ID Buzz van in 2022 for both consumer and commercial audiences. The van, also known as the ‘microbus’, will be one of three electric vehicles Volkswagen is planning on its MEB platform; other EV models that will see the application of the platform includes the ID Cross SUV and ID Hatchback.

The production ID Buzz will measure in at 4,940 mm long (just 216 mm shorter than a Honda Odyssey), and will be built at the Hanover plant. It will be exported throughout Europe, US and China.

Because of the compact powertrain and flexible platform architecture, Volkswagen also confirms that the ID Buzz will have variable seating configurations.

At the same time, Volkswagen also mentioned that all ID models will be fully autonomous by 2025.

Volkswagen did not disclose the ID Buzz’s range; the concept version had a 435 km range (based on the EPA test cycle) for its two motor, 369 hp system. The range for the production version is expected to be higher than that by the time the ID Buzz hits the road.
