Art in Motion: The New Rolls-Royce Phantom Gallery

‘The Gallery’ provides an opportunity to present artwork within your car

An uninterrupted application of glass across the front fascia of the new Rolls-Royce Phantom provides an unprecedented opportunity for owners to present artwork within their motor cars.

Arising from an understanding that patrons of the super-luxury marque have an increasing penchant for collecting fine and contemporary art, the Rolls-Royce Design Team, led by Design Director Giles Taylor, created a space behind the glass where patrons can commission and curate art — a space aptly named ‘The Gallery’.

“As patrons increasingly commission a Rolls-Royce for its aesthetic power, they trust in the knowledge that only the finest materials fashioned at the hands of a collective of skilled artisans will produce a motor car that transcends its primary role as a means of conveyance, to become a meaningful and substantive expression of art, design and engineering excellence,” says Torsten Müller Ötvös, Chief Executive of Rolls-Royce Motor Cars.

This allows Rolls-Royce to further the capabilities of their unrivalled Bespoke programme, additionally inviting patrons to commission artworks for their personal Gallery.

Several art pieces have already been commissioned for The Gallery in the New Phantom. These include Digital Soul by Thorsten Franck, Immortal Beauty by Porzellan Manufaktur Nymphenburg, and Astrum by Richard Fox — featuring mediums such as 24-carat gold, handcrafted porcelain, and precious gems such as diamond and amethyst.
