The BMW Motorrad WorldSBK family has a new addition from Portugal for round four of the 2023 FIM Superbike World Championship (WorldSBK) at Barcelona (ESP) this weekend.

The Ponte Vasco Da Gama. It is the second-longest bridge in Europe, spanning more than 17 km in length, the bridge connects Lisbon with Montijo, where we will be crossing from in our BMW X1 xDrive25d.

Finding Portugal WITH THE BMW X1 XDRIVE25D | Day Two

We cross one of Europe's longest bridges in day two of our Portugal road trip.

Part of that has almost certainly got to do with Singapore’s preference for four-door models, which would make us something of a priority market. For all intents and purposes, the 2 GC is essentially a four-door version of the new front-drive-based 1 Series (note: not an elongated version of the rear-drive 2 Series Coupe). And despite the “Coupe” part of its name, there’ll be a good chunk of local buyers who see this as the cheapest entry into a new BMW “sedan”, similar to its arch-rival, Mercedes-Benz’s CLA when it first arrived seven years ago.

Finding Portugal with the BMW X1 xDrive25d | Day One

There’s no better way to discover what a country has to offer than to explore it by car. We grab the keys to the BMW X1 and do just that.

The iconic Estoril track is 4.2 km long with two hairpins, a difficult chicane and a very long main straight, which means drivers experience an unusually broad range of speeds over one lap. It therefore rewards cars with a great breadth of ability, that combine fast acceleration with exceptional handling. Speaking about the benchmark time, Tiago MonteiroÂ said, “We came here with a goal to beat the existing lap record set by the previous car but you can never take anything for granted — I mean it’s a lap record so it’s no easy feat. You have to have supreme confidence in the car to attack around Estoril, and the new Type R is just so powerful, smooth and confidence-inspiring. We beat the lap record, smashed the record actually.”

MINI sets a world record approved by Guinness World Recordsâ„¢ for the longest wish list ever delivered to Santa Claus.

After 14 punishing gravel special stages in the Jordan Valley, Ogier finished the two day event ahead of second-place Jari-Matti Latvala of Finland after trailing him in the final Power Stage, near the Dead Sea. In the end it was Ogier who came out tops as he recorded the fastest timing to best Latvala by half a second.

Ogier Strikes Again!

Following his success in Portugal, the French man records yet another victory in the Jordan Rally.

Loeb won the Power Stage which is the televised live stage at the end of the rally, with bonus points available to finish second overall. The three points he scored for winning the stage, combined with his 18 points for finishing second, placed him on equal footing with Ford's Mikko Hirvonen at the top of the drivers' standings after three rounds.

Ogier Cruises To Portuguese Win

Citroen star Sebastien Ogier made up for the disappointment of crashing out in Mexico by defending his Rally of Portugal which he won last year.

This will be the first visit to the circuit by an FIA GT Championship, with the GT1 World Championship joining the highly successful ADAC Masters Weekend, which is one of the most popular national GT events on the German motorsport calendar, attracting over 32,000 spectators in 2010.

Sachsenring To Host German Round Of The FIA GT1 World Championship

The German round of the FIA GT1 World Championship has been confirmed and will take place at the 3.6km Sachsenring circuit, the home of the German MotoGP event, from 13 to 15 May 2011.

After a highly successful first season, the 2011 FIA GT1 World Championship will begin as it did in 2010, in Abu Dhabi at the end of March. As well as the event in the United Arab Emirates, the events in Algarve, Silverstone, Navarra, Paul Ricard and San Luis are all carried over from the inaugural season. The four new tracks on the 2011 calendar include Zolder (Belgium), Sachsenring (Germany) and Curitiba (Brazil), with the GT1 World Championship heading into new territory in September with a race in China, at the Ordos International Circuit.
