It’s definitely a weird statement to proclaim, but I can’t wait to have a go in the new Prius once it arrives on our shores. Fortunately, I managed to get a sneak peek at this year’s rendition of the Tokyo Auto Salon. The Prius shown here isn’t exactly stock, adorning an aftermarket body kit from Modellista which will probably not make it to the actual production model. But, it still gives us good insights as to what the Prius will look like when Toyota decides to roll it out.

It’s been 16 years since the Nissan R35 GT-R made its debut back in 2007. Not many cars survive that long of a production run, but the boffins at Nissan surprised the world again with the launch of the 2024 GT-R model year, after revealing earlier in 2022 that the R35 GT-R will be ending production. Ageing chassis infrastructure did not stop engineers from chucking both mechanical and cosmetic improvements to the GT-R. For starters, the biggest reaction from the crowd at its launch was the inclusion of new daytime running lights (DRLs), making the GT-R’s front fascia look more futuristic.

The Consumer Electronics Show or CES is a big annual affair in Vegas. These days, automotive manufacturers are also getting in on the exhibition due to the proliferation of in-vehicle technology, and the famous Bavarian manufacturer known for introducing technology to their cars in a huge way with iDrive is no exception. According to BMW Group, their future “is electric, circular and digital”, and the i Vision Dee concept is dedicated to the ‘digital’ aspect of the triumvirate. Can’t wait to see what the ‘circular’ concept will look like.

Valentino Rossi certainly needs no introduction. I will openly admit to being pretty nonchalant when the opportunity to share a test-drive of the EQE 350+ with Sheldon was presented. Having read and watched multiple reviews of the EQS, I wasn’t exactly thrilled to partake in an EQ-product review. You know that saying about how one should NOT judge a book by its sibling cover? Mmmm hmmm… The day arrived when Sheldon showed up at my driveway in the EQE 350+. I couldn’t help but pull a Jonathan-impersonation, with the first words out of my mouth being, “it looks like a fish. Good thing it’s not silver, or it’d be a silverfish!”, accompanied by an pseudo-evil creepy-leery smirk, the type that one would be highly tempted to slap 73 different kinds of stupid out of. Sheldon groaned. Then we proceeded to the photoshoot. The Mercedes-Benz EQE 350+ AMG Line is the tri-point star brand’s answer to mid-range luxury. Unique to Singapore’s market though, it pretty much sits on its own. The Tesla Model S, its natural albeit less-luxurious rival, is not available here, and its nearest price-competitor, the Audi e-tron GT is a lower-slung two-door coupe. So, by some weird twist of fate, the EQE 350+ kinda sorta finds itself going up against its big-brother EQS in Singapore. Die Außenseite There’s no mistaking it. The EQE 350+ is big. B-I-G-G. Its nearly 5-metre length takes up a normal parking spot lengthwise, and then some. Parked next to other sedans and wagons at an open carpark, its bright white roofline could clearly be seen from a distance, since it towers around 1.5-metres above ground level. The curvy and flowing lines of the bodywork further accentuate this perception of ‘bigness.’

Yes, you heard me right. Basically, in layman terms, good music in your ears. These playlists, one for each engine variant, include covers created by graphic designer Vasjen Katro. BMW M GmbH is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a slew of special edition models, such as the BMW 3.0 CSL aka Batmobile. Here in Singapore, the M4 CSL, and the uber-exclusive limited-edition M4 Competition 50 Jahre are set to round up the Golden jubilee for BMW’s performance sub-brand. If you want to get a first-hand view of these highly covetable editions, both cars will be on show at Performance Munich Autos showroom at 315 Alexandra Road until 14 December 2022.

Where the Ur E9-generation BMW 3.0 CSL was actually built in 1972 as a homologation special, to enter the European Touring Car Championship of the time, the new car celebrates five decades of racing expertise from BMW M GmbH concentrated in a highly emotional package. The ‘C’ and ’S’ in CSL stand for ‘Coupé’ and ‘Sport’ respectively, while ‘L’ stands for Leichtbau or lightweight. To make the original 3.0 CSL lightweight, the monocoque was made of thinner steel, trim and soundproofing were removed, the doors, bonnet and boot were made of aluminium alloy and the side windows were made of Perspex. Altogether, these features helped the 1972 original weigh in at just 1,270kg.

BeyonCa is exciting news for Singapore, as the new EV brand is founded by one of our own. BeyonCa’s founder is Singaporean Soh Weiming, an auto industry stalwart who built his reputation turning around car companies in China. At the age of 30, he brought Mercedes-Benz into China. He later joined Volkswagen China, spending 16 years with the German auto manufacturer. Mr Soh is concurrently the CEO of Renault China. Its executive team comprises a team of premium car industry veterans, as well as technology experts from consumer electronics and Internet companies. The company has set up an office in Singapore with plans for a local R&D hub in future and has the backing of China’s Dongfeng Group and other international investors. Already in the works in their proposed first model, the new BeyonCa GT Opus 1. It’s built from the ground up as an “out of this world” premium EV experience, and BeyonCa is confident it can stand toe to toe with other current generation high-end EVs already on the market.
