The Singapore Grand Prix in 2023 was showered with accolades, and now it bags the title of ‘Best Race’ of the season by several international media giants and crowned as the ‘Best Team of Officials’ by none other than the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA).
Sky Sports, ESPN, UK’s Metro, and WTF1 have all hailed Singapore as the Best Race of 2023. Motorsport Magazine even nominated the night race for this prestigious accolade.
With comments like “a thriller to the end” (Sky Sports) and “some of the closest racing we’ve seen across the season” (WTF1), it’s clear that Singapore’s race was more than just a sporting event.
The FIA has spotlighted Singapore’s recovery marshals as the ‘Best Team of Officials’. It's an honour given under the FIA Volunteers and Officials Awards, which shines a light on the dedication and effort of volunteer race officials globally.
They pulled off 17 recoveries, including handling high-drama moments like Lance Stroll’s Aston Martin crash, Esteban Ocon’s retirement due to his Alpine’s gearbox failure, and George Russell’s final lap crash in his Mercedes.
