Tokyo Auto Salon 2024 Is Back And Bigger Than Ever

BY Sean Loo

Tokyo Auto Salon 2024, one of the world’s largest custom car and car-related product shows, will take place from Friday 12 January to Sunday 14 January 2024.

Held at the Makuhari Messe International Convention Complex, the 42nd Tokyo Auto Salon (TAS) will host 378 exhibitors showcasing a whopping 893 vehicles and car-related products.

If you haven’t been living under a rock, you’ll know that TAS offers an insane smorgasbord of anything under the sun related to cars. This year’s show is no different.

The outside area is designated as a “Motorsport Demo Run” zone, with one of the signature programmes of TAS featuring “Toyota Gazoo Racing rally demo runs” by Norihiko Katsuta and Takamoto Katsuta, “Formula E & e-sports cars demo runs” by Nissan/NISMO, “N moment/Hyundai” by Hyundai’s N-branded cars, and even riding shotgun experiences for kids “WILD DRIVE KIDS BY MAZDA×BRIDGESTONE”.

There’s even a “fateful battle between two FR masters - AE86 BEV vs. AE86 Super Mame - and the ever-popular “D1GP Kick Off Drift”.

For those who prefer the indoors, this year will also feature the “Tokyo Auto Salon e-sports Experience”, featuring leading e-sport competitors as well as charismatic streamers such as “SPYGEA” to be engaged in online sim battles.

For folks who are coming down on Saturday, the “Gran Turismo 7 Stage” will feature SUPER GT and KYOJO drivers competing against each other, along with events like e-D1 GP and a showdown between future mechanics from automobile technical colleges.

The lineup on Sunday includes “Street Fighter 6 Special Match” produced by a professional e-sport player “Dogura”, and the JEGT Final. The venue has also gaming equipment for you to experience the latest e-sports titles.

For those who cannot make it in person, fret not. The 2024 show will also be live-streamed both in Japanese and English on AUTO SALON TV.
