Formula 1: Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda to race for Alpha Tauri in 2024

Alpha Tauri have confirmed their driver line-up for the 2024 Formula 1 season, retaining Daniel Ricciardo and Yuki Tsunoda.

AlphaTauri has just unveiled its driver lineup for the 2024 season, and it's been nothing short of a bumpy journey so far.

The underdog, sitting at the bottom of the constructor standings with just five points, and not one, not two, but four different drivers taking the hot seat. It's like watching a four-act play, each with its own protagonist. But in the world of high-speed racing, you need consistency, and that's what AlphaTauri is gunning for.

The chosen ones for 2024 are none other than the experienced Daniel Ricciardo and the promising Yuki Tsunoda. But what about Liam Lawson, you ask? The young gun who stepped in with a string of brilliant performances?

AlphaTauri kicked off the current season with Tsunoda and rookie Nyck de Vries in the cockpit. But De Vries got the boot after just ten Grands Prix due to a rocky start.

Then came Ricciardo, the seasoned pro, ready to bring stability. But before you know it, he's nursing a hand injury following a crash in the Netherlands, completing just two races for his new team.

That’s where Liam Lawson enters the picture. He made quite an entrance, clinching his first-ever points finish in Singapore. He's the rising star, the rookie who just might steal the show.

But AlphaTauri decided to stick with 34-year-old Ricciardo for 2024. Why, you ask? Team principal Franz Tost puts it simply: they want consistency. With the technical regulations mostly unchanged next year, they're going for a steady pair of hands, and Ricciardo's extensive experience fits the bill.

But here's the twist – Liam Lawson isn't out of the game. He'll stay as a third driver, lending his skills and developing with the team, and who knows, he might just have his moment in the spotlight soon.

So, when can we expect Ricciardo back in action? Well, AlphaTauri isn't rushing the comeback. There's no set date, but they're ensuring he's fully healed before he's back in the driver's seat. After all, the last thing you want is a premature return that causes more problems.

For Liam Lawson, his impressive performances have put him on the radar, and there's a chance he could secure a seat on the 2024 F1 grid. The only remaining spot is at Williams, and American rookie Logan Sargeant is yet to have his contract extended. Lawson's recent showings make him a contender, but there's still that element of suspense.
