Formula 1 2023 - The Season Thus Far

BY Sean Loo

The Bulls extend their dominance once again, but the rest of the field are making cracking upgrades.

It's always said that you should appreciate genius when you experience it, and that is becoming truer as the season progresses in this 2023 Formula 1 world championship.

Max Verstappen, the unstoppable force, continues his dominant streak with seven consecutive wins in the 2023 season, leaving us all in awe.

The Hungarian Grand Prix was no exception to Verstappen's reign of dominance. Once again, he triumphed, leaving an admirable Lando Norris trailing in his wake.

In fact, his points tally is so high that it's got us wondering if he could single-handedly lead the constructors' championship.

But let’s not forget about Lando for a moment. The British driver also gave a stellar performance on track last weekend, rocketing the McLaren up to the runners-up position; an amazing feat considering where they’ve started when the season commenced.

Although, Lando might want to stay away from trophies for a while.

You win some, you lose some. And that’s true for a record held by the boys in Papaya Orange that was shattered after the race, with Red Bull surpassing McLaren's record of 11 consecutive victories.

The Mercedes garage has reason to celebrate as well. While they are not on the podium this time round, Lewis Hamilton’s pole for qualifying is a sign that the Silver Arrows might be back on form soon enough.

They might not be the quickest yet, but their consistent form shows good promise.

The same cannot be celebrated in the Ferrari pit garage. Going into this season, the boys from Maranello were poised to be the main contender to Red Bull, but have fallen short over the course of the season.

But who knows, maybe they can reclaim back their former glory in the closing stages of the season.

It was smiles all around when Daniel Ricciardo made his return to the F1 circus at the Hungaroring.

The initials “RIC” was definitely a sight for sore eyes, and even though he only finished P13, the chain collision wasn’t his fault, and he made a great recovery drive to nurse the car home.

With 22 high-octane races on the calendar, this season has already delivered more than we could have hoped for thus far.

Kicking off in Bahrain back in March and set to conclude in Abu Dhabi come November, it's a journey filled with adrenaline, drama, and unpredictability.

This year also has unpredictable action in store, with the debut of the much-anticipated Las Vegas Grand Prix! Qatar is also back in action after a year out due to the football World Cup.

It's a triumphant return, and we can expect nothing short of racing brilliance on the desert circuit.

But you know, even with all the excitement, there's one thing we've learned over the years – in Formula 1, anything can happen. The twists and turns of this season are far from over, and while Verstappen's star shines brightly, we mustn't forget that racing is a rollercoaster ride.

In the world of Formula 1, you can never quite predict what's around the corner. So, fasten your seatbelts, folks, because we're in for a breathtaking journey through the rest of the 2023 Formula 1 season.
