    • The biggest draw for trackday junkies (other than the very existence of the track)? The fact that the 5-6km track will be designed by Hermann Tilke, he of Yas Marina, Circuit of the Americas and Sepang fame. What makes this project even more interesting are the geographical features of the site, which includes elevation changes of up to 60m, prompting Tilke to liken it to some other famous tracks like Brands Hatch and even the Nurburgring's Nordschleife.
    • Apart from the main circuit, which will be lit to allow for the possibility of night races, the facility will also contain a CIK-certified kart track, off-road course and areas for advanced driving schools and driver training. Supplementing the different tracks will be various dealerships and test facilities for manufacturers, and workshops for repairs and tuning companies. To appeal more to enthusiasts, there are also plans to make it more family-friendly, with hotels, weekend homes, F&B and retail outlets, and a museum. There will also be bonded garages and storage space for collectors to keep not only their trackday and race machines, but also classic cars that can be used on the roads Malaysia once their COEs in Singapore expire. On a personal note, this last bit is a fantastic idea, because I find it one of the biggest shames that owners have to let go of their beloved rides at the end of every COE cycle, with many beautiful and beautifully kept cars getting exported or worse, scrapped.

    • As mentioned in our earlier articles, two engines will be available. Both will be direct-injection units, a 3.8-litre V8 and a 3.0-litre V6 with turbocharging. Yes, Maserati is back at using turbos! The power-plants are designed by Maserati Powertrain and assembled by Ferrari at Maranello.
    • Also a twin turbo unit, the V6 with 410 bhp is not too shabby either. 550Nm of torque can be had at the top end of 5000 rpm, with an accessible 500 Nm from as low as 1500 rpm. 0-100 km/h is dispatched in 5.1 seconds, and the V6 will hit 284 km/h, while the V8 will touch 307 km/h given the space.

    • The naturally aspirated AM11 engine develops 510 bhp, an increase of 40 bhp over its predecessor. Coupled to that sweet sounding V12 is Aston’s own mid mounted six-speed Touchtronic 2 automatic transmission, which is then mated to a mechanical limited-slip differential. With the all aluminium body shell and its 510 bhp, the car sprints to 100 km/h in less than 4.5 seconds and sprint to a top speed of 295 km/h.
    • The interior remains relatively unchanged. That said, the DB9\'s interior has been upgraded and improved to be more luxurious and refined, by using a higher grade leather. This leather retains the plush, comfortable and its rich smell of the old DB9, while making the car more elegant. Standard equipment includes satellite-based navigation, front and rear parking sensors, Bluetooth and iPod connectivity.

The seating position, as you would expect from a SUV is pretty upright, but the centre console is designed in such a way that you look down at it.
    • The cabin feels luxurious to touch, with lots of soft surfaces and reeks of quality throughout. The “Arabica/Almond” with the wood in Anigre finish colour option works very well – it keeps things looking interesting without being an eyeful. The front seats feel cushy, although rear seats could do with a tad bit more supportive. There is no shortage of space here: Space for five with space to move and a big boot that has a low loading sill for easy loading.

Little quirky details such as the blacked-out C-pillar and claw-slash rear light trails just add to the our likeability of this car.
    • Viewing this car side on, we can't help but notice the short front and long rear overhangs. Still, since what we drove is the long wheelbase version, it does look more pleasing to the eye, with that sweeping roofline, combined with the beautiful curves even more pronounced than the standard wheelbase XJ. Overall, we think it has made the three German marques look a bit boring by comparison.
    • Jaguar's attention to the interior paid off. Getting into the Jaguar is not similar to getting into a car. Yes, the interior of our test car is the same dull black business seen in countless luxury cars, but that is where the similarities end. Instead of being surrounded by wood inserts, we're greeted with wood panels which curve around us, cocooning us in the snug interior. Small strips of metal do the job of highlighting some of the cabins features. It's the same story in the back, with the extended wheelbase giving passengers lots of space to move about with only one caveat - only the tall peeps need to worry about the swooping roofline during entry.

    • The rear design gives the car a firm stance with two tail pipes built into the rear bumper and highlighted by a rear signature featuring six light guides. The cabin's design mirrors the exterior styling as well. The driver-focused cockpit features a coupé-like driving position with a near-vertical steering wheel and a wide centre console.
    • Mixing technology with style, the colour Head-Up Display projects essential information into the driver’s line of sight and the ambient lighting bathes the cockpit in a heady mix of red and white. Looking elsewhere, the DS5 is full of premium materials such as fine-grain Club leather and the DS signature “watchstrap” seat upholstery.

With a 465 litre boot, five spacious seats, four doors and all the access and modularity of a hatchback, the DS5 looks set to be a great touring machine. Given the lists of positive impressions from the DS3, we are certainly looking forward to driving the DS5.
  • The uncomplicated overall design is accentuated by a number of striking key details, such as the wrap around windscreen and asymmetric sunroof design, the front and rear dot-style LED head and positioning-lamps. This juxtaposition of simple and complex is a common trait of many traditional Korean art and craft. Asian Celadon-style pottery, in particular, was a major influence on the car’s styling – with the pottery’s asymmetric form lending itself to the sunroof design, and the typical jade coloring giving Naimo its unique exterior finish. Kia’s design team also made use of innovative technology features to give the car a premium feel and to ensure the car’s exterior remained uncluttered. For example, Naimo has no traditional wiper blade on the windscreen – instead it employs a high-intensity air jet at the base of the windscreen that performs an ‘air wiper’ function. Conventional door mirrors have also been replaced with miniature cameras installed in the A-pillars.

    • Naimo’s interior was designed to evoke a strong sense of tranquility and features hand-crafted materials throughout. Korean oak is used to trim the interior door panels and the entire interior floor, Korean “Han-ji” paper is used for the head lining. Alongside these traditional elements sit modern features such as a TOLED (transparent organic light emitting diode) storming display instrument panel and full device connectivity. “Naimo is a perfect balance of innovation, high-tech and Korean tradition. It was heavily inspired by the purity and grace of traditional Korean arts and crafts, but combines this with cutting edge technologies to deliver a truly premium experience,” comments Kia Motors’ Chief Design Officer, Peter Schreyer.
    • The third electric vehicle design to be unveiled by Kia Motors Corporation in a year, the 3.9 metre long Naimo concept explores the practicalities of introducing a zero-emissions, five-door, four-seater city car into a future niche market. Measuring 3,890 mm in length, the Naimo’s generous wheelbase, width and height (2,647, 1,844 and 1,589 mm respectively) – plus the short overhangs which place a wheel at each corner – ensure that the cabin provides exceptional head, leg and shoulder room for the occupants. The concept car has no B-pillars and features rear-hinged rear doors to maximize easy access to the cabin, and a three-way split opening trunk, allows versatile access to the load bay for varying luggage sizes.

    • Wolf Zimmermann Chief Technical Officer Lotus Cars said: “The traditional Lotus approach of reduction and purity has lead to one of the most zeitgeist and contemporary sports cars around. For over 15 years the Lotus Elise has become an icon in the sports car market, carving out a niche market with a dedicated following of lightweight fans. The new Club Racer will definitely give these people something extra to get their teeth stuck into. This car epitomises everything that’s cool about the Elise – it’s fast, raw, responsive and a huge amount of fun to drive.” Quality throughout the vehicle has been a top priority, highly regarded component suppliers such as Eibach for springs and Bilstein for dampers ensure that the Elise Club Racer is a car of substance as well as style. The Elise Club Racer pleases the eye as well as the soul with a choice of six striking colours (Sky Blue, Saffron Yellow, Ardent Red, Aspen White, Matt Black and Carbon Grey) and bespoke design elements that emphasise the character of the car.

    • As for the rear, one can find an electronically deployed rear spoiler that is powered by an electric motor. The spoiler can be activated in less than five seconds as the car gains speed. However the spoiler can also be deployed manually at any speed at the touch of a button.
    • Interior wise, the styling of the Crossfire is simple yet functional with the cabin large enough to accommodate two adults with generous head and leg room. The dashboard detailing, steering wheel spokes, door sill plates and fitment of leather as standard gives the car an upmarket appearance though the speaker grille rings and instrument surrounds that are enhanced with a satin silver finish does feel a bit cheap and tacky, a chrome or brushed aluminium surface would have been a much better choice.
