The 50kW DC chargers can fully charge a car in 30 minutes. Over the next few years, SP will introduce more high-powered DC charging points of up to 350kW. Other than SP’s, there are six other DC chargers in Singapore. SP’s new additions will be a game-changer in improving the charging turnaround time for EV drivers in Singapore. EV drivers can also enjoy at least 50 per cent cost savings compared to typical Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles for every kilometre travelled. The cost of using SP charging points will be regularly adjusted, mainly influenced by the prevailing electricity costs in Singapore.

Despite Singapore having one of the lowest fatality rates in the world of 15.8 deaths per 100,000 motor vehicles, Bosch believes that there is room for improvement, especially when compared to other highly developed cities. During an interview with Klaus Landhaeusser, General Manager of Automotive Sales for Bosch in Southeast Asia, he highlighted the comparatively lower fatality rates in European countries — 4.8 in the United Kingdom, and 7.9 in Germany — and attributed them to regulations that mandated safety systems such as the antilock braking system (ABS) and the Electronic Stability Program (ESP).

Nissan’s best-selling crossover gets refreshed


Premiering in September 2017 at the International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, the refreshed BMW i3 and new BMW i3s enable drivers to enjoy locally emission-free mobility with the added benefit of instantaneous power delivery. Both models draw their energy from a 33 kWh lithium-ion high-voltage battery (an increase from the original i3’s 22 kWh battery), offering a range of up to 300 km. Should a longer range be required, a 38 bhp range extender petrol engine can also be ordered as an option for both cars, extending range by an additional 150 km.

Vanda Electrics has engaged Williams Advanced Engineering, the technology and engineering services division of the Williams Group — which also includes Williams Martini Racing — as its technical partner to build the Dendrobium concept and assist in future project development. The division specialises in race-bred aerodynamics, composites, batteries and electric drivetrains. Marking the latest step in Vanda Electrics’ global strategy to revolutionise zero emissions vehicles, the Dendrobium follows on from a commercial vehicle (Ant Truck) and e-scooter (Motochimp). The all-electric, zero-emission two-seater Dendrobium concept hyper car will make its global debut at this March's Geneva Motor Show


The new car features subtle but key differences to refine yet further the overall package. At the front, a new lower apron with larger air intakes and a horizontal bar combines with reshaped BMW kidney grilles and new headlamps that feature LED daytime driving lights as standard on all models. For the first time, full LED headlamps with low and main beam have been added to the options list, with Adaptive LED headlamps a further option. These follow the path of the road ahead, and also adapt their beam according to the type of road and conditions at any given moment. At the rear, new tail lamps with a familiar BMW ‘L’ shape design adopt striking LED technology.

Anyway, back to the plot. The Evoque was treated with much respect (in 'Dynamic' mode, no less): late braking, hard flicks, flooring the accelerator when traffic permits, taking corners like a hot-hatch. In other words, I drove it like I just stole it, went to rob a bank and am racing towards the Malaysian border — except I am (a) no where as buffed as Channing Tatum nor (b) as bad-ass as Stallone. Every single day for half a week, I drove that way. Journey to the office has not been this fun and fast (sorry Range Rover, the M235i still blew my mind moaarr).

Our visit to Wolfsburg included a stop at the Volkswagen E-mobility station, where a new source of 'fuel' is now available at what was once, a historic gas station.


“This vehicle will mark the launch of the first volume-produced car featuring bodywork largely made of carbon. It’s a revolution in automotive design,” stressed Klaus Draeger, Member of the Board responsible for Development. The application of this new CFRP technology allows a weight reduction, compared to a conventional electric car, of between 250 and 350 kilos, and that means more dynamic handling coupled with a greater range. The BMW i3 does the 0 to 100 km/h sprint in less than eight seconds, while a high-speed charger achieves an 80% battery charge in just an hour.

Conceptually, the XL1 represents the third evolutionary stage of Volkswagen’s 1-litre car strategy. When the new millennium was ushered in, Prof. Dr. Ferdinand Piëch, who is today Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Volkswagen AG, formulated the visionary goal of bringing to the market a production car that was practical for everyday use with a fuel consumption of 1.0 litre per 100 km.
