On this momentous day, the 21st of June 2023, history was made at the BMW Motorrad plant in Berlin-Spandau. The 1,000,000th GS motorcycle equipped with a boxer engine gracefully rolled off the production line, and it was the BMW R 1250 GS. Berlin has been the birthplace of BMW motorcycles since 1969, and the GS models with boxer engines have been a cornerstone of the brand since 1980. Has the horsepower arms race ended yet? If cars like the car tested here are anything to go by, Subaru could well be at the leading edge of a new movement. Yet, the surprise is that it might not be a bad thing. The Subaru Forester e-Boxer 2.0i-S Eyesight Hybrid as the car tested here is called in full makes all of 150hp and 194Nm of torque. Quite a long way off the heady days when the mighty 2.0XT made up to 240hp less than a decade ago. The downside of the XT however, was its woeful fuel efficiency as it came with a four-speed automatic and needed a heavy weight engine oil and had to be fed high octane petrol. Add all-wheel drive into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for a proper guzzler. These days, when fuel prices being what they are, the Forester needs to work smarter, not harder to stay relevant in the market. To this end, Subaru has done exactly that. To kick things off, the new Forester is literally a green car in more ways than one…

BRZ to arrive in Singapore soon

The second-generation BRZ is due here soon. The 2.4-litre boxer engine in the new BRZ will push out 232 bhp and 250Nm of torque.


Adding confidence to every drive, EyeSight uses stereo cameras to identify the surrounding vehicles, obstacles, traffic lanes and other items. Under the right circumstances, it will apply the brakes or reduce the throttle to minimise the risk of a collision.

Subaru Launches The New Impreza

After Subaru teased us with the concept, the final product certainly looks impressive!


Inside, it features a large multifunction display which sits in the center panel that shows navigation, car audio and vehicle information. Touch panels have been used on the D-shaped steering wheel as well as elsewhere, negating the need for buttons. You might notice that there are no side mirrors, that's due to the “EyeSight” system that relays video to a monitor on the dash, fed from its stereo cameras mounted high up on the door line.
