The 992 Generation of the 911 Carrera shows why it is still THE daily-drivable premium sports coupe.

For the new 2023 Range Rover Sport, that involved driving nearly 300m up the spillway of the Karahnjukar Dam in Iceland, against a torrent of water moving at 750 tonnes/min, and up a 25-degree incline. The danger of getting it wrong? A 90m drop off the end of the spillway into the valley below.

However if you really want the full warp drive experience, there’s a sequence of setting the car up first: put it in Sport Plus Mode, hold the brake firmly with your left foot, and nail the accelerator to the carpet with your right foot until “Launch Control Activated” shows up in the driver’s display. This then sets the electric motors to unleash a maximum combined total of 571hp and 650Nm of torque when the brake pedal is released.

The rest of the time, the Taycan 4S’ power output reverts to a more sustainable 490hp.

Much has been said about the higher-end Taycan Turbo and Turbo S. This entry point to an all-electric Porsche however is probably the best real world option.

But let’s assess the way it looks first. It has strong hints of the model (991) it replaces, although subtle changes to the bumper and (add-on) the LED matrix headlamps help to refresh the front-end a bit. The main changes are at the rear though.

Second generation Panamera is now locally available in four variants

The new 911 is now fitted with an all-new 3.0-litre twin turbocharged flat-six engine, meaning the new base model of the range boasts a respectable 370 hp; this is 20 more than the naturally-aspirated engine. Acceleration has improved too, with smoother gear shifting to enhance the overall performance even further. One step up from the Carrera, the Carrera S delivers 420 hp and has a top speed of 308 km/h; with Sport Chrono Package, it does the 0-100 km/h sprint in only 3.9 seconds. This is the first 911 in the Carrera family to do it in under 4 seconds.

So there you have it, the 911 C4S Cabriolet retaining Porsche’s ethos still. As a cabriolet, it's simply complete. There’s nothing to fault this car, as everything is well thought out, engineered and put together with no compromises at all; till now, I am still highly impressed as to how Porsche can manage to sort out the entire chassis and make it a solid package - in more ways than one - just to cope with demanding drivers.
