Singapore - First In Southeast Asia To Preview BMW Concept M5

Back in April, we released news about the new M5 making an appearance here. Last night, Munich Automobiles, the first M Showroom in the world, previewed the awesome BMW Concept M5 über saloon.


V8 Supercars Chairman Tony Cochrane said, “V8 Supercars is very pleased to announce Etihad Airways as our official international airline partner. It is the first airline partner for our sport and we believe it is a fitting partnership between a world-class operator and a world-class sport. Cochrane continued, “Earlier this year approximately 500 V8 Supercars personnel flew to Abu Dhabi on-board Etihad flights for the Yas Marina V8 400 and our experience was second to none. We look forward to V8 Supercar fans being given access to exclusive deals and offers as a result of our new partnership with the airline.” V8 Supercars was recently given international status by the FIA, the governing body of world motor sports, which means it can extend to another five destinations outside Abu Dhabi, Australia and New Zealand. In this context, Etihad’s partnership matches the huge growth potential and future international destinations of the sport. Globally, Etihad’s partnership with V8 Supercars will be highlighted through signage and promotions at select V8 Supercar events and content on Etihad’s in-flight entertainment system. In the coming weeks, V8 Supercars’ website will also carry links to special offers on Etihad Airways flights around the world.

For this leading edge technological showcase, Lexus created an indoor theatre-style enclosure especially for the event. The 3D Car Projection Show was repeated every ten minutes and anchored the multi sensory Progressive Luxury Experience for guests.

Lexus recently held the Progressive Luxury Experience (PLE) showcase at the Paragon Atrium from 30 April to 2 May 2011.

Another Boost For The WRC As Volkswagen Signs Up

Volkswagen will be returning to the FIA World Rally Championship from 2013.


The EX1 beat an electric speed record by putting in a lap time of nine minutes and 1.338 seconds at an average speed of 138.324 km/h despite weather conditions which were far from favourable. The previous electric speed record on this circuit was set by a race-prepared Mini E, which clocked a lap time of nine minutes and 51.45 seconds.

The new Goodyear Assurance Fuel Max tyre features an advanced full silica compound which reduces the friction between the tyre's rubber molecules and provides higher resistance to abrasion, resulting in reduced fuel consumption and a longer tread life. Additionally, the tyre is built with a hard base under the tread, which reduces deformation in the crown area and heat build-up. The tyre also features even pressure distribution that helps to reduce the rate of wear.

As ironic as it seems, this five-door hatchback has one unique feature that separates it from the pack.


Even out on the expressway, the A1 gets up to legal speeds without fuss. However what’s lacking here is engine refinement — it can sound a tad gruff especially above 4,500 rpm, and the drone does get intrusive when the audio system is switched off. Handling wise, the A1 remains your typical Audi. Which means the steering is well weighted, handling is predictable and as a whole, makes even an amateur driver a street hero. Depending on buyer’s demand, nothing is wrong with this particular aspect of the A1 — but if you’re more demanding and place more emphasis on “f-u-n”, then you might come disappointed. In comparison, at least the Mini Cooper requires more driver input and you can easily (a) throw its rear out, and (b) laugh away gleefully as you try to get back its line. But wait: here's a surprise, the A1 in comparison seems to brake better.

The new XF will be equipped with the existing engines, a 238 hp three litre V6 and 385 hp five litre V8. The XFR receives a 510 hp supercharged five litre V8 that will propel the cat from zero to 100 km/h in 5.1 seconds. The range-topper receives a more aggressive styling with three air dams that dominate the front of the car and a set of cooling vents set into the bonnet either side of the bulge. New sill extensions run down the side of the car framed by redesigned 20-inch wheels. At the rear the new lights sit above a redesigned bumper complete with a subtle diffuser.
