For the UK, the ST Cupra’s 2.0 TSI engine with dual injection and variable camshaft timing will be tuned to 280 bhp. The Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC), front differential lock, progressive steering, Cupra Drive Profile and standard-fit full-LED headlights are further examples of its state-of-the-art technologies. Making it even more intriguing is the availability of the ‘Sub8 Performance Pack’ on ST Cupra - the optional pack includes larger Brembo brake callipers, specially-designed 19-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels in either black or orange and body-coloured side skirts. Not forgetting semi-slick Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tyres.

The sports car manufacturer presented two new GTS models - the 911 Carrera GTS and the Cayenne GTS - at the Porsche press conference in the Petree Hall of the Convention Center

Adequate tread depth is important for safety in wet conditions as the tread grooves help to remove the water from the contact patch between the tyre and the road surface. As the tyre’s tread depth wears down, its ability to remove water from the road decreases meaning that grip levels are reduced and stopping distances are extended. In extreme circumstances when the tyre has insufficient tread depth to clear the water properly, increased water pressure causes the tyres to lift on top of the water surface and lose contact with the road surface. During this dangerous aquaplaning situation any input from the driver such as pressing the brake or turning the steering wheel has no effect on the vehicle, leaving it at an increased risk of being involved in an accident.
