The GT4 Clubsport is blessed with many of the same traits that make its street-going sibling a riot to drive, such as bodywork that helps to produce genuine downforce on both axles, a lower, wider track and a mid-mounted 3.8 liter flat six engine that produces 385hp. However alterations have been made to beef up the base car, such as front suspension that has been lifted wholesale from a GT3 cup car while the rear has a revised strut design with GT3 cup car control arms. The 6-piston front and 4-piston rear brake calipers are also a one piece design now for added strength.

An automatic is optional but the manual offers enough convenience features to make life easy, with features such as hill-start assist and automated rev matching. Dr Co’s daily drive is a Jaguar XF S Diesel 3.0, which is undoubtedly a rather unconventional choice. The reasons for this choice? “Hands down, the brilliant fuel economy and torque available that drew me to the car”. For the curious, this diesel XF has 275 bhp and a whopping 600 Nm worth of torque on tap, does the 0 to 100 km/h run in 6 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h. All that coming from a 3-litre 6-cylinder turbodiesel powerplant mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
