Wondering how this is made possible, eh? To put it in laymen’s term (that would be easy for non-engineers - like me, even - to decipher), it begins with a new Bridgestone innovated compound that was developed at the Nano level. This compound was designed to provide almost glue-like grip when it comes into contact with water. Secondly there are the deeper grooves, which are improved over its predecessor, the EP200. Last but not least a round rib edge, which maintain the tyre’s stiffness along with providing maximum contact shape and pressure.

Held from 1st August to 31st October 2017, 10,000 packs of four pink tyre valve caps will be made available at 35 participating Bridgestone dealers’ and business partners’ stores, with each pack available for purchase at $4. First a bit about the car. The 160 bhp 2.4-litre Estima came shod with oddly matched forged staggered wheels that while I think look cool, are better fitted on a RWD car. Nonetheless, I've decided to keep them on since they work fine and are in pretty good condition. The tyres though, were not. Wrapped in mismatched brands (one Toyo, one Dunlop, two China-brand), it just made me uneasy whenever I spent time on the road.

This is certainly the case with the Hyundai Accent, one of the cheapest new cars you can buy today. It may have a bargain basement price (relatively speaking; you still have to pay for COE after all), but you certainly won’t be scraping the bottom of the proverbial barrel if you had one. More importantly — for us at least — an Accent in this spec ensures exclusivity that supercars can only dream of, for one glorious reason: peer into the footwell and you’ll see a weird 3rd pedal on the left; grab the gearlever and you’ll notice it can move from side to side in addition to back and forth, and has numbers etched into the top. We’re looking forward to a strong program in 2015, with some outstanding events, including our first three-hour race at Sepang, following on from what was a big season in 2014.

French tyre maker will be supplying tyres for the full 11-race program


Adequate tread depth is important for safety in wet conditions as the tread grooves help to remove the water from the contact patch between the tyre and the road surface. As the tyre’s tread depth wears down, its ability to remove water from the road decreases meaning that grip levels are reduced and stopping distances are extended. In extreme circumstances when the tyre has insufficient tread depth to clear the water properly, increased water pressure causes the tyres to lift on top of the water surface and lose contact with the road surface. During this dangerous aquaplaning situation any input from the driver such as pressing the brake or turning the steering wheel has no effect on the vehicle, leaving it at an increased risk of being involved in an accident.
