The 33rd edition of the so-called “Fashion Week for cars” took place next to the famous Hôtel des Invalides, with over 600 guests present to admire the 720S in Azores Orange. The award was given by a jury of 17 members from a diverse range of industries, who named the 720S the Most Beautiful Supercar of the Year 2017 against fierce competitions like Aston Martin’s V8 Vantage, Ferrari’s Portofino and the Porsche Panamera.

To be publicly revealed in the first quarter of 2018, it will be delivered ahead of a second future Ultimate Series model codenamed BP23 that aims to be the world’s first Hyper-GT. As members of the McLaren Ultimate Series, both will be produced in very limited numbers and all examples are already assigned. Besides the attention-grabbing exterior, the other key point of the 720S is the new M480T engine. The 4.0-litre engine, which has 41 percent new parts (namely piston, crankcase and turbochargers) content compared to the 3.8-litre engine, generates 710 bhp (720 PS) and 770 Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed SSG dual-clutch 'box, standstill to 100 km/h takes 2.9 seconds; 0-200 km/h is executed in 7.8 seconds. The car’s maximum speed is rated at 341 km/h.

The ultra-low inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers fitted to the new M840T engine spools up more rapidly than previous designs, delivering reduced turbo lag and quicker throttle response.
