Volkswagen’s avant-garde gran turismo is revealed in Singapore


From the front, differentiating the Turbo from its lesser brethren are the LED main headlights of the Porsche Dynamic Light System (PDLS), with double-row front light modules. Viewed from the side, one would notice widened wheel arches with painted wheel arch trims, housing the unmistakable 21-inch Turbo wheels fitted as standard. Renault's TreZor concept has picked up the award for the Most Beautiful Concept Car of the Year at Italy's prestigious Concorso d'Eleganza Villa d'Este


Besides the attention-grabbing exterior, the other key point of the 720S is the new M480T engine. The 4.0-litre engine, which has 41 percent new parts (namely piston, crankcase and turbochargers) content compared to the 3.8-litre engine, generates 710 bhp (720 PS) and 770 Nm of torque. Paired to a 7-speed SSG dual-clutch 'box, standstill to 100 km/h takes 2.9 seconds; 0-200 km/h is executed in 7.8 seconds. The car’s maximum speed is rated at 341 km/h.

Combining avant-garde design with a high level of versatility was the key objective for designers and developers of the Arteon. At the same time, this resulted in an interior architecture which is spacious — with ample head and leg room at all seats. One key design elements of the Arteon include its completely new front end, in which the LED headlights and daytime running lights merge with the chrome-plated crossbars of the radiator grille and the bonnet. The car’s shoulder section is another defining feature of its design.

New fastback model, positioned above the Passat, aims to set the pace in the premium mid-size class


The new car will be based on the New Generation i30, which was launched last year. The racing version is designed to take advantage of the best qualities of the road-going model, which went through its own rigorous testing plan, including mileage on the Nürburgring Nordschleife circuit.Work on the design began at Hyundai Motorsport in September last year; building and development of the cars will also be completed at the company’s headquarters in Alzenau, Germany. The creation of this new project continues the work started by the Customer Racing department on the New Generation i20 R5 rally car which showed the high-performance, dynamic side of Hyundai to a wider audience.In line with current TCR regulations, the car will be powered by a two-litre turbocharged engine (from within the Hyundai range), and fitted with a six-speed gearbox and 100-litre fuel tank. The car is scheduled to begin testing in early April, while the first deliveries to customers are planned for December.

The ultra-low inertia, twin-scroll turbochargers fitted to the new M840T engine spools up more rapidly than previous designs, delivering reduced turbo lag and quicker throttle response. This new 4.0-litre engine then signals its performance credentials with an exhaust sound achieved through a sophisticated balance of harmonics and delivering a ‘crescendo’ characteristic, according to engine rpm and load. Say hello to the speediest Singaporean on four wheels. After making waves racing in Europe and New Zealand, 22-year old Andrew Tang is flying the nation’s flag high in the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia.


The runs were carried out at Skellefteå Drive Center, a former airfield just outside Skellefteå in northern Sweden. The truck covered the distance in both directions; based on these two runs, the average time and speed were calculated. The record result the FIA presented is the average speed of the two runs.
