The body of the new BMW 1 Series is 85 millimetres longer than its predecessor at 4,324 millimetres, while the wheelbase has widened by 30 millimetres to 2,690 millimetres. The car also looks more powerful because its overall width has increased by 17 millimetres to 1,765 millimetres, while its height remains unchanged at 1,421 millimetres. The rear seats have 21 millimetres more legroom, and the luggage compartment has expanded by 30 litres to 360 litres.

The BMW 6 Series is now available in Coupé guise. The lighter and more rigid variant promises to be a sharper drive than its already fantastic Convertible sibling.


Built on the V-platform, which is designed to deliver excellent fuel efficiency through a light and rigid body that uses fewer components and weighs around 68kg less than the previous B-platform which was used in the Latio. This new sedan is the second product based on this platform, following the Nissan March.

In 1976, BMW launched the first 6 Series (E24), which was derived from the 5 Series then. 35 years on, we sample their latest sexy and muscle-packed 650i convertible.


The new car looses one distinctive feature of its predecessor, the roll bar. In its place is an active rollover protection system first seen in the Beetle Cabriolet and EOS. It fires two metal beams out from the rear of the passenger cabin within milliseconds of detecting a roll.

A high-gloss black diffuser insert and two elliptical exhaust tailpipes on the left accentuate the styling at the rear.

The sliding doors can be operated electrically by buttons, door handles or remote control. The doors, along with the electric tailgate are equipped with pinch protection to keep them from severing anything.

McLaren Automotive yesterday announced the official launch of McLaren Special Operations, a division of the new sports car manufacturer responsible for delivery of bespoke projects.


Just last week, the 2013 Lexus GS 350 was launched at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California. Lexus' competitor next to BMW's 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz's E-Class, Audi's A6 and Jaguar's XF, the GS 350 is powered by a 3.5 liter V6 engine that whips out 306bhp at 6,400 rpm, with maximum torque rated at 375Nm at 4,800 rpm. Mated to a 6-speed sequential-shift automatic transmission, the Lexus GS will sprint from 0 to 100km/h in an impressive 5.7 seconds, with a top speed of 230km/h.
