BY Keegan Gan

Held for three consecutive days from 29th to 31st March at the Singapore Expo Centre, Tyrexpo Asia 2011 featured more than 160 exhibitors worldwide in the region's longest established trade event.

With the event officially opened by Dr Stephen Evans, Secretary General of the International Rubber Study Group (IRSG), Tyrexpo Asia 2011 marks the eighth in the series of Tyrexpo Asia events, and is by far the largest in terms of exhibitor numbers in the 15 year history of the event, providing hard evidence of the vitality of the tyre and automotive equipment sector in the region. Tyrexpo Asia is also recognised by the industry as Asia's first established and international tyre trade event. We check out what was in store at this 'trade partners only' event which covered every aspect of the tyre industry. Once again, the exhibition has successfully attracted an international gathering of manufacturers, suppliers and distributors representing all facets of the tyre and equipment sector.

Host country Singapore is represented by companies which include Stamford Tyres, Omni, Mindtrac, Newera Equipment, YHI and Belshina Asia, the regional arm of the Russian tyre manufacturer.

In total, 3,578 visitors attended the show held at the Singapore Expo Centre. This figure represents a major increase of more than 16% compared to the last staging in 2009. Demonstrating the true international flavor of the event, visitors were recorded from 86 different countries from across the global tyre world. Another record achieved, was the number of exhibitors, with 160 suppliers from 43 countries choosing to support the show. Chinese, Singaporean, Malaysian, Korean and Indian companies made up the bulk of exhibitors, but there were also a first-time presence from the Latvian and United Arab Emirates suppliers.
