The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift 2010 kick-started deliveries to 28,439 beneficiaries with BBSG Car Delivery Day.

The Boys’ Brigade Share-a-Gift (BBSG) 2010 kick-started deliveries to the 28,439 beneficiaries of the BBSG Car Delivery Day project. For the first time, this event is held at the F1 Pit Building and will be organized over two Saturdays. This year, the project hopes to attract more than 300 vehicles to volunteer and join in the efforts to deliver packed food hampers to about 5,214 individual homes. BBSG 2010 began the first round of deliveries to nearly 1,000 homes in various parts of Singapore on the 4th of December.

The BBSG Car Delivery Day is an annual tradition that encourages and allows members of the public to experience first-hand, the joy and happiness they bring to the less fortunate in society through their personal involvement in the BBSG project. Food items that are collected and packed into food hampers by Boys’ Brigade members are loaded into private vehicles. These volunteers then help to deliver the food hampers to the individual homes of beneficiaries registered with the Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports (MCYS) under the Public Assistance (PA) Scheme and ComCare Transition (CCT) Scheme.

Some 100 cars from staff and agents of Prudential Singapore, presenting sponsor of BBSG 2010, made up the contingent for the official flag-off ceremony. The flag-off ceremony was led by Mr Lui Chong Chee and Mr Tomas Urbanec, Chief Marketing Officer of Prudential Singapore. The strong show of support from both BBSG’s presenting sponsor and members of the public is truly heartwarming.

Members of the public who will like to volunteer with their private vehicles to help delivery of food hampers can join in the Car Delivery Event on 11th December. From 12th December onwards, volunteers can also offer transportation help to BBSG 2010 at the Boys’ Brigade’s headquarters at Zion Road. Volunteers can register at 1800-227 4273 or find out more information from www.bbshare.sg.

BBSG continues to call out for the public to donate generously food and household items. Donations can be made at the project’s 15 gift boxes located island-wide. Online and electronic platforms are also available for the greater convenience of the public to donate food and household items – via the NTUC’s FairPrice Online portal (www.fairprice.com.sg) or by heading down to any AXS machines island-wide.
