It was an evening of hellos and goodbyes as Audi launched the new 420 bhp S7 Sportback and bid farewell to Audi Singapore's Managing Director, Mr Reinhold Carl.

Held at the glass atrium of the National Museum of Singapore, Audi launched the 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 S7 Sportback which packs 420 bhp and 550Nm. Those figures translate to a 4.7 century sprint and a 250 km/h top speed. This is essentially the same engine found in the larger Audi S8 and the Bentley Continental GT V8 with the new innovative Audi cylinder on demand. This ensures that during partial load operation, only four of eight cylinders are used.

Coupled with the wet-sump dual-clutch 7-speed S tronic and quattro permanent all-wheel drive, the car also comes with a brake-based torque-vectoring function as standard. The optional sport differential, which provides true mechanical torque, can transfer almost all the torque to one of the rear wheels to enhance agility are standard equipment in the new S models too with the S tronic operating in conjunction with torque vectoring.

Also standard, is a cool electronically adjustable air suspension which can lower the car by 20mm. While the steering is electromechanical, a dynamic steering with an adjustable ratio is optional, as is a carbon-ceramic braking system.

Exterior-wise, it's hard to differentiate the S7 with a decked-out 3.0 TFSI. Other than the badging, aluminium bits and quad exhausts (which can be easily changed), everything else looks pretty much the same.

Inside, it's a little better, sports seats covered in Valcona leather with diamond-patterned stitching, a unique steering wheel with contrasting stitching and aluminum shift paddles, a unique gauge cluster, start button and aluminum optic pedals - along with S7 badging throughout, help to distinguish this from the regular A7s.
