Porsche Centre Singapore Unveils The 911 And Boxster S Black Editions

BY Burnpavement

With a limited production run, these two cars in black guise flaunt sophistication and power.

The 911 Black Edition is based on the 345 hp Carrera with a 3.6 litre engine and is available as a Coupé or Cabriolet. Coupled with the six-speed gearbox, this car can achieve a top speed of 289 km/h in both body versions. The difference is that the Coupé goes from 0-100 km/h in 4.9 seconds, while the Cabriolet takes 5.1 seconds.

The car comes in plain black as standard, with basalt black metallic also available as an option. The Cabrio hood is principally of black cloth. In addition, the 19 inch 911 Turbo II rims provide an unobstructed view of the brakes, naturally with black, four-piston aluminium monobloc fixed callipers. The grey top-tint in the windscreen is standard in the 911 Black Edition, rounding off the overall impression on a harmonious note.

The 911 Black Edition is limited to 1,911 units and prices start at $359,888 for the Coupé and $404,888 for the Cabriolet, excluding COE.

The Boxster S Black Edition, unlike the 911 Black is only limited to 987 cars. With a 320 hp 3.4-litre six-cylinder engine, it accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 5.2 seconds, a tenth of a second faster than the Boxster S. This new car has a maximum speed of 276 km/h. The optional seven-speed Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) gearbox shortens acceleration times from to 5.1 seconds, while the top speed will be limited to 274 km/h.

Upon request, the Boxster S Black Edition can be individualised even further with options such as the Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) as well as the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) and the adaptive sports seats with memory function. The lightweight 19 inch wheels from the Boxster Spyder are found here, shod with 235/35 tyres at the front and 265/35 ones at the rear.

The price for the Boxster S Black Edition starts at $272,888 without COE.
