Bentley's Grand Tourer Unveiled In Singapore

BY Burnpavement

It might look similar to the predecessor, but the new body has a sharper and more defined appearance.

The new Bentley Continental GT coupé was unveiled at the official launch at Sentosa's Capella Singapore. The new coupé has a more flamboyant look, with stronger definitions and jewel-like LED headlamps, first seen on it's bigger brother, the Mulsanne. The British car manufacturer claims that 99 per cent of the body panels are new, with only the roof carried over.

Power once again comes from the trademark six litre W12 twin-turbo engine, but tuned up to give 567 hp and 700 Nm of torque in the new car. New 40:60 rear-biased torque split for the all-wheel drive system reduces under steer when powering out of bends and enhances the coupé's cornering abilities by “throttle steering".

Other improvements to the handling department include increased front and rear track for better grip and stability, new front anti-roll bar and reworked spring and damper settings. The stability control system has also been updated to keep up with the enhancements.

Inside the lush hand-crafted cabin, the seats now offer more body support and there is even more legroom for those in the back. The updated dashboard has a new touchscreen infotainment system with cutting-edge navigation features, DVD playback and a 30 GB hard drive. All that music is pumped through eight speakers, or an optional Naim-designed system with 11 speakers.

The front seats may look thinner, but they were extremely comfortable and they play a part in increasing legroom in the rear. No more fumbling for the seat belt, a seat belt presenter in the door frame does the job now!

The price has not been confirmed yet, we will update this article once it's available. In the meantime, do check out more pictures of Bentley's launch on our Facebook page!
