Black Vue Vehicle Black Box

BY Burnpavement

If you need an independent eyewitness in your car, look no further.

Nobody likes to get into an accident, but should the misfortune happen, there'll always be the risk of the other party making false claims. While going on popular forums to appeal for eyewitnesses is a solution, it doesn't always work, especially if there are no eyewitnesses, or they are unwilling to help.

The Black Vue vehicle black box is your personal eyewitnesses to any road incident, helping to bolster your insurance claims and police reports with concrete visual evidence. Other than just video evidence, this camera also records data such as speed, direction of driving and impact sensor readings.

Equipped with a wide-angle lens and a 0.32 mega-pixel sensor, the Black Vue records about five hours of high quality h.264 video footage onto the included 4Gb MicroSD card. It draws power from the car battery and will start recording in loop mode the moment you start the car. It can support memory as much as up to a 16Gb MicroSD card. Depending on the quality setting for the recording, it can record minimum of 16 hours and stretch up to 32 hours of video with a VGA resolution of 640x480. Even though, this is not in HD quality, the recorded video quality is still rated as one of the best in its class with good visibility of the registration plate of the car in front of you!

If the unit senses large G-forces such as those generated from an impact, it will store the section of video as an “event recording” to the memory space. This will ease the work to search for the suspected files recorded. Other than some colorful LED indicators, it also has pre-recorded voice messages to keep the user informed about the current status and potential problems. A video-out port also allows for live video output when connected to any external TFT screen or monitor.

All of this technology is crammed into a sleek black beauty with a small cylindrical body that can be rotated to capture different angles. Best of all, it is small enough to be mounted behind most rear view mirrors, freeing your vision from any obstruction.

The camera can be quickly unclipped from its mount and removed from the car for security, but you can also deploy the camera for surveillance use. Upon activation of its "Parking mode", the camera will monitor for visual movements by its patented motion detection technology or physical impacts by its three axis G sensors. Should either sensor be triggered, it will save 30 seconds of pre-recorded video before and after the detection. With the “parking mode” feature, the space on the memory card can be managed more efficiently.

Included with the camera is a PC-based viewing software that classifies the recorded video, such as those marked as normal, parking or event recording. It also supports image captured from the recorded videos and time-stamping features. Any setting adjustments to the system are also made via the user friendly software.

Manufactured in Korea, the Black Vue comes with an option for GPS, in which it can record the direction of your vehicle and speed with assistance from Google Map when the recorded files are played back on an internet enabled PC. With all these features, the Black Vue is clearly a reliable eye witness you can always depend on.
