The V60 Plug-in Hybrid Is Three Cars In One

BY Burnpavement

Volvo presents the world's first diesel plug-in hybrid - the V60 Plug-in Hybrid.

How about integrating the very best properties from three different car types into one, single attractive sports wagon? By simply pressing a button you can choose which car you want to drive:

- An electric car with a range of up to 50 kilometres.
- A high-efficiency hybrid with carbon dioxide emissions averaging just 49 g/km.
- A muscular fun-to-drive car with a combined output of 215 + 70 horsepower, 440 + 200 Nm of torque and acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of just 6.9 seconds.

The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid will be presented at the 2011 Geneva motor show. A production-ready car, the V60 Plug-in hybrid has carbon dioxide emissions of below 50 g/km. The car can be driven on diesel power alone, as a diesel-electric hybrid, or as an electric-only car - technology that no other manufacturer can currently offer. The plug-in hybrid, which will be launched on the market in 2012, is the result of close cooperation between Volvo Cars and energy supplier Vattenfall.

In the Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid the buyer gets the very best properties of three distinct car types. At the touch of a button the driver can decide how he or she wants to drive. The "Pure" button makes the car run entirely on electricity, giving it a range of up to 50 kilometres. Press "Hybrid" and you are driving a high-efficiency hybrid with average carbon dioxide emissions of just 49 g/km. Choose "Power" and you'll have at your command a veritable power plant providing a combined total of 215 + 70 horsepower and acceleration from 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.
