New Maserati GranTurismo Takes Center Stage At Milan Design Week 2023

BY Sean Loo

The new Maserati GranTurismo was an icon at the 2023 Milan Design Week, an annual international celebration of design attracting one of the most cosmopolitan and kaleidoscopic audiences in the world.

Three original GranTurismo one-offs from the Maserati Fuoriserie Programme were split between real-life and virtual platforms.

The GranTurismo One Off Prisma is dedicated to the heritage of this glorious car, as a proud expression of its past and the brand's ability to go further. The bodywork comes with a chromatic partnership consisting of 14 different colours.

Two of them look ahead to the future, whilst the other twelve have been selected from the hues of the most popular GranTurismo models of the past, such as the characteristic Amaranto from the 1947 Maserati A6 1.500, and the Oro Longchamps that brightened the 1973 Maserati Khamsin.

The outfit of this extraordinary One Off is embellished with details of more than 8,500 letters hand-applied, making up the names of Maserati cars, creating a second level of shade and harmonising the entire colour coating, all painted by hand.

The GranTurismo One Off Luce is a statement of innovation and sustainability that literally reflects Maserati’s experimentation and constant research. The outfit of this wonderful interpreter of the future is an original chromatic mirrored monolith, engraved with a dynamic laser-etched pattern and painted in an almost absent colour that makes the contours of the car blend into its surroundings.

The interiors are a hymn to the future, made of ECONYL® as its only material. This regenerated nylon yarn results in a unique aesthetic metamorphosis and is combined with laser processing that expresses dynamism, the same as in the dashboard and panels.

Finally, the unmistakable allure of a limited edition like the GranTurismo Launch Edition PrimaSerie 75th Anniversary. Made in four unique configurations, the total of 300 units – 75 for each version with an internal combustion engine, in Grigio Lamiera and Nero Cometa colours, and 75 for the electric Folgore version, in Rame Folgore and Blu Inchiostro hues – celebrates the quintessence of Italian luxury in terms of performance and stands as a testament to an ideal balance between beauty and functionality, without ostentation.

On April 19th 2023, they will be on display at the new Maserati store in the heart of Milan’s elegant Magenta district for a private preview for selected guests, while on April 20th design-savvy visitors and car enthusiasts will be able to experience them up close and personal.
