Organised by Octopod Asia, METTLE GAMES was spread over two weekends. Weekend One was held at Xtreme SkatePark @ East Coast and SKI360, while Weekend Two saw the action progress to the Pit Building and Singapore Flyer from 5-7 November. In addition to demonstrations by action sports professionals such as Alain Robert and Russ Swift, 500 competitors from all over the world took part in eleven different tournaments.

Over the two weekends, crowds of Singaporeans were entertained by international demonstrators such as car stunts expert Russ Swift, Japanese drift champion Ryuji Miki, Malaysia’s Drift Princess Ashley Wong and Alain Robert, the French Spider-Man who famously scaled the Singapore Flyer on 5 November. In addition, professional athletes Jereme Rogers and the X-mini Ambassadors gave top notch performances in skate boarding and aggressive inline skating respectively.

Competitors also hailed from as far away as Croatia, as Dominik Zidov, one of fighters from The Contender Asia, set pulses racing in his professional boxing match with Niran Monsin. On the water, world class cable wake boarder Denise Dehaan from the Netherlands, showed our local competitors how far they had to go as she easily walked away with the Women’s Open crown.

Not to be undone, our local representatives wowed the thousands of spectators present as well. Singapore’s very own Team Falken comprising Adam Toh, Felix Lim and Jansen Tan thrilled the crowd with their repertoire of tricks in their drift demonstration. In the skate park, Firdaus bin Abdul Rahman also won the skateboarding tournament, beating out stiff competition from the Thais. Finally, local darling Sasha Christian came out tops in the boat wake boarding Women’s Open.

In partnership with the Make-A-Wish Foundation, METTLE GAMES helped grant the wishes of several youths with life threatening diseases. On 5 November, Ryuji Miki gave some youths from Make-A-Wish a joy ride in his performance car. On the very same day, four more youths formed a band and performed at SG Stomping, in front of a live audience for the first time.

11 tournaments were held over the two-weekend event which included skate boarding, Bicycle Motocross (BMX), wake boarding, drag racing and super motard to name a few. In total, the competitions attracted 500 participants and demonstrators from more than 15 countries, including the United States of America, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, France, Spain, New Zealand, Iran, Croatia, Australia, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia and Thailand.
