Get Ready For A Quiet Revolution...

BY Burnpavement

Yes, you've read that right. The Hummer is back as a fully electric truck with more than 1,000 hp and both on- and off-road capabilities.

Once known and loathed by tree huggers as a fuel-guzzling, military-style SUV, the Hummer makes its comeback as a General Motors Company (GMC) badged all-electric “super truck” with massive horsepower (1,000 hp), acceleration (0 to 100 in 3 seconds), and torque (15,590 Nm). No longer the heavy drinking behemoth it once was, will the new environmentally friendly Hummer win the hearts and minds of those who once treated it with derision?

GM confirmed the plans on 29th January and kicked off its marketing campaign with a 30-second Super Bowl ad entitled "Quiet Revolution," to air during the second quarter of the game on 3rd February 2020, with the ad focusing on the truck's quiet but superb performance. Though marketing is underway, the GMC Hummer EV will only make its official premiere on 20th May, 2020, with sales starting in the third quarter of 2021. The all-electric Hummer will be built at GM's Detroit-Hamtramck plant.
