Subaru’s local distributor, Motor Image, also took the opportunity to launch and showcase the brand’s latest tech, the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology at the Singapore Motorshow 2018. The Japanese brand, more renown for its signature Boxer Engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive System, proudly cited how EyeSight completes Subaru’s focus on safety.

Adding confidence to every drive, EyeSight uses stereo cameras to identify the surrounding vehicles, obstacles, traffic lanes and other items. Under the right circumstances, it will apply the brakes or reduce the throttle to minimise the risk of a collision.

The six main functions of EyeSight are Pre-Collision Braking, adaptive cruise control, Pre-Collision Throttle Management, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, and Lead Vehicle Start Alert. In what must be a first, the Lead Vehicle Start Alert prompts the driver to take action with a buzzer and a flashing indicator when it senses no reaction from the driver when the rest of traffic has started moving again.

The new Subaru Eyesight Driver Assist Technology will be available on the Impreza, Legacy, Levorg, Outback and XV.

“We are thrilled to finally launch the award-winning Subaru EyeSight Technology at the Singapore Motorshow 2018. EyeSight completes Subaru’s core technology pillars to present a wholesome and attractive package for customers who are looking for the highest standards of safety, driving performance and comfort in a car,” said Mr Glenn Tan, Managing Director of Tan Chong International Limited.
