If having a 'standard' 400 bhp SUV is not enough for you, you'll need the Porsche Macan Turbo Performance Package!

Porsches are meant to be fast. That’s why the base model Boxsters, Panameras and Cayennes have had to go up on power and dynamics over the years. But we’re not looking at a base model here today. No. In fact what you see here is the range-topping Macan that goes above the … er … ex-range-topping 400 bhp Macan Turbo.
With an additional 40 horsepower squeezed from the twin-turbo 3.6-liter V6, the Macan Turbo Performance Package whacks out 440 bhp and 600 Nm of torque. Making this one quick SUV. 0-100 km/h flies in at 4.4 seconds and a top speed of 272 km/h means a rocket-ship ride for daddy and all onboard.
Rocket-ship is probably a good description, because this thing flies. Handling the car is easy too, as it provides both great visibility and hatchback-like dynamics.
The engine sounds great, growling as you floor the soft-roader down the road. Hit the Sport Plus button and as you swap the cogs via the seven-speed dual-clutch PDK ‘box, an aggressive exhaust bark resonates through the air and increases the sensation of fun. Yummy! Call me greedy though, I did wish I could turn all the noise up a notch!
Other bits that the ‘PP’ gets would be huge 21-inch wheels, chunkier brakes and a lower ride height of -15mm. These help to keep the super SUV in ‘check’. Although we did feel that the brakes, while adequate, could have done with a bit more stopping power.
Getting the Macan PP to do the everyday stuff is no issue either. The boot opening is large, with the tailgate offering lots of space to access the cargo area. The Macan is still a better fit for small families though as interior space is not one of its strengths (go for the Cayenne if your kids are older, or if you ferry adults more).
Like all premium cars in Singapore though, all this comes at a rather hefty price tag. Crossing the SGD 400k mark, it makes you wonder if you’re driving an SUV made out of gold?
One thing’s for sure, the Macan Turbo Performance Package is one capable car that will get you the respect and street cred that very few SUVs can. It is a car that does both cruise and bruise really well. Plus, it’s got the badge that every petrolhead desires, so maybe it is worth its weight in gold after all.
