Second generation of the well-received A5 Sportback lands here, boasting lighter kerbweight and improved suspension
The all-new Audi A5 Sportback has landed in Singapore, promising elegant and emotional design with high functionality and interior comfort. Plus, this second generation comes with a completely reengineered suspension, high-performance engine and innovative driver assistance systems.
The stretched wheelbase, the short overhangs and the long wraparound front lid (with ‘power dome’) emphasizes the dynamism of the five-door coupe. With additional focus on the new face to tell the new apart from the old, the three-dimensionally modeled Singleframe grille is significantly flatter and wider than the previous model’s.
Inside, the new A5 Sortback has grown significantly with its interior length gaining 17 mm, and shoulder room for driver and front passenger improved by 11 mm; even the rear knee room gets a 24 mm increase. In terms of luggage capacity, 480-litres worth of space is available.
Audi’s virtual cockpit comes standard — the various display options brings added convenience to the driver thanks for a large, high-resolution 12.3-inch TFT monitor. Optional head-up display projects all relevant information onto the windscreen as comprehensible symbols and digits, which enables the driver to keep their eyes on the road.
The front axle features a redesigned five-link suspension while a five-link construction replaces the trapezoidal-link rear suspension used in its predecessor. A new electromechanical power steering provides better feedback and steering precision.
For Singapore, the A5 Sportback range starts with a new 190 bhp 2.0-litre TFSI engine, paired to a new 7-speed S-tronic dual-clutch transmission. Price starts at $201,900 with COE and CEVS rebate.
