New Huracan Spyder Drops In At The Second Home Of The Bulls

Lamborghini’s latest drop-top is unveiled at a brand new satellite showroom in Suntec City.

For many years, prospective customers and eager fans of Lamborghini had to journey to the west of Singapore, to Teban Gardens, in order to view the breathtaking models that are adorned with the Raging Bull badge. All that has now changed, with the launch of a new satellite showroom at the heart of the city, making the marque a lot more accessible to the public.

Opened by President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini Stephan Winkelmann, the new facility spans an area of 2,500 sq ft (large enough to display two vehicles) and also houses a dedicated Automobili Lamborghini boutique, showcasing a range of clothes, accessories and merchandise from Collezione Automobili Lamborghini.

In addition, Mr Winkelmann also unveiled the Huracan Spyder, the convertible version of its ’baby’ model that had its world premiere just a few months ago at the Frankfurt Motor Show.

As we reported then, the Huracan Spyder is powered by the same 610bhp 5.2L V10 engine as its fixed-roof sibling. Power is sent through all four wheels, allowing the car to sprint to 100km/h from standstill in 3.4 seconds, on to a top speed of 324km/h.

What buyers in this country might like just as much as the engine — with the amount of congestion and traffic lights on our roads — is probably the car’s stop start and cylinder deactivation technology (where half of the engine’s cylinders are shut down under low loads). This technology will eventually be rolled out on the Huracan Coupe as well, and allows for a combined fuel consumption figure of 8km/L.

The main highlight of this car though, is its ability to go al fresco at the press of a button. The roof is available in three different colours and can fold away in just 17 seconds, and at speeds up to 50km/h. An integrated duct in the rear buttresses reduces turbulence in the cabin to keep your hairstyle in place, and removable wind guards reduce buffeting to allow for conversations even at high speeds.

Pricing for the Huracan Spyder starts at just over S$1 million with COE, though local deliveries are only expected in the middle of 2016.

The Lamborghini Satellite Showroom is located at Suntec City Tower Two, 3 Temasek Boulevard North Wing, #01-440/441.
